all about bang for buck and quality I guess, anyone can buy a shitty 24 port switch for under £50-100, a Cisco 2960 24 port switch will cost you...£600 ish

or something abit more pocket friendly from cisco (cat 500 series): http://eunifi.com/product_info.php?cPath=26_186&products_id=749
Personally when it comes to switches we wouldnt reccomend anything less then a 2960, most of the switches we quote for (3750's) cost around £1.5k for 24 ports.

well the netgear ones we used last time were about £600 for a 48, so thats where the quality goes i guess. most of our customers don't mind paying the extra for the better equipment machine wise, so they can pay for other hardware too etc. then you get the badgers that insist on everything being cheap, they get told to G T F normally

Not at work, at work we buy HP stuff, we use to homebrew our servers but since the service has improved I felt the decision to go with a proper build/vendor was needed so we could HP DL servers
At home my boxes are custom built
