i got stopped randomly about a week ago, he said he was going to check my tint darkness on driver door(which is standard), i assured him they are FACTORY TINTS but was not having any of it. apparently they are right on the limit of being illegal i reminded him that we live on the hottest continent on the planet and that every little helps when it comes to keeping cars cool. he agreed

mainly applies to newer cars. Older cars did not come with any form of tints as standard.

well you have just proven your own point as being invalid. Porsche and the yota Soarer are prestige cars, of course they have tints!! your standard 1993 Corsa or 1985 205 diesel will NOT have tints of any form as standard

1985

"Road Vehicles (Construction & Use) Regulations 1986 as amended
specify the minimum levels of light that must pass through the
windscreen and front side windows. The limits are:

Motor Vehicles first used before 1 April 1985:
The windscreen and front side windows must allow at least 70% of
light to be transmitted through them.

Motor Vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1985:
The light transmitted through the windscreen must be at least 75%.
The front side windows must allow at least 70% of light to be
transmitted through them.

If the glass is tinted to a point whereby it lets through less light,
then the vehicle does not meet legal requirements"

dave that only mentions the MINIMUM amount of light allowed to pass through, nothing about 100% of light, ie, no tint at all...

I still dont think you get 100% no tint, is it not a saftey standard that glass has a slight tint.
