V6 Turbo sounds awful

Are the V6 turbos on a car out in the open or are they on a dyno? Will sound a lot different if the sounds so far are on a dyno.

All cars sound shitter on dynos. I've no doubt in my mind that it'll sound awesome under load.

Who did the soundclip of the engine on a dyno run as if it was going around a track? Think it was monza. That sounded ok, but as said, sure it'll wound awesome when it's being thrashed by an adrenaline fuelled driver, rather than a computer.

Dyno; won't get to hear them out 'in the field' until testing next year.

F1 also seems to be anal enough that if they gave out full blown sound, the other anal competitors could glean some sort of advantage from it.

They are anal; they have audio engineers/analysts to do exactly that
