1) I can get big and my site will have better features than ebay and i can make some good money
2) I could sell my site and make some more that way
I do it for fun, as i have said i won't beat Ebay and i know that, i enjoy doing it and do it as i like a challenge and i also enjoy the fun factor of it.
Any money i make is a bonus from the hard work i put in, so far i have made about 1.2k and spent about 3k
People can slag the site off as much as they like, it doesnt bother me 1 way but if you do have a bad word to ay about it, ill advise you to keep it to yourself.
I hope that wasnt aimed at me son?

exactly, i couldn't really give a flyin fcuk what ideas they copy/adapt. If they work fair play, if they don't, try something else....
If someone has an idea, theres not problem in using their idea and building on it. Take airbags or seatbelts for example. Volvo came up with the idea, but every other company copied their technology.....

i don't really want to go into all this crap again, but you're talking about something totally different.
You're talking about people's safety, an industry standard, a technology people want to embrace and use as a matter of self-preservation.
A page full of pixels is not the above listed

yeah it is a different example, however, if people can find a way of improving and developing the pixel idea then the interest in it will remain. Its the basic life cycle of a product. If it is revised/improved people will continue to show an interest in it.

I wont turn that offer down unless copywriting my ass means something different in your neck of the woods to what it means in mine

The whole pixel thingy was a lucky break nothing more- It was only due to the advertising he got on radio initially which was why it succeeded.
Not because people thought - wow let me advertise on your crappy site. but more 'Right, well this is cheaper than getting advertising on national radio... yet will be seen by everyone on national radio'.
Then as more things advertised it - more people thought 'hang on this is a cheap form of getting a Lot of advertising' - even if it is the most pointless advertising ever, I doubt many people click any of the links or take notice of what each image represents.
The guy got v.lucky - Most internet things either never pick up and die, or Snowball...
Having free advertising on radio etc (friends reuinted for example) or tv for last minute.com ... is definately a big bonus!
