Plus it was red and i had my heart set on black, i just settled as there are no black ones about within budget.
The actual deal was:
Car £11,999 discounted to £11,500 over 60 months with £500 deposit. Worked out at £248pm. They offered to tax the car for 6 months(£115) if i took the GAP cover, making the payments £251pm.
The also put on the 18's and threw in some mats.
When i first started thinking i wanted one my budget was £230pm but this was not possible without saving up a bigger deposit, saw this £20pm over budget and bought it on the spur of the moment. IMO the car is priced well, very few others if any with 10,000 miles in the £11,500 price range.
Then it hit me that its £20 a month too much and not the colour i really wanted, my niaveity has made me realise that in future i should go with my head before my heart

should have mats for free and black does nothing for the car - it hides the bodykit

this is only rough (were you even asking me? )
14k of car, 3.5k discount, 2k deposit against the finance deal,
so 36 payments of 250 with one at like 295, at the end ill own the car

Yeah the mats were not a deciding factor
I like the fact black hides the bodykit slightly, take the chav edge off. The mrs laughed when she saw the spoiler

If I were you i'd be looking to stick down a bigger deposit unless you genuinely plan to keep it for 5yrs.

First thing I'd be doing is speaking to your bank about borrowing the same amount from them.
You might just find they'll lend you the same amount with lower repayments over the same term (which is too long imo). You really do need a decent deposit though. You must have some spare cash lying about at the moment if you can afford to pay the finance and run it quite comfortably.
Like John said, I'd be looking for a decent deposit (at least 50% ideally) and repay over 3 years max.

I did have a decent deposit but i put most of it into the new house and am keeping some back for contingency purposes.
Suppose its just a matter of living with it, i can comfortably afford to put away £500pm in savings but its the thought of having to drive everywhere in a crappy 1.7 diesel corsa thats falling to bits and MOT next month for the next 6 months untill im sorted

Just buy it. It's only money.
I think red is the best colour followed by the Blue.

Could you not even put down like £2500 or something?
I'd hate to have nigh on 100% finance over a 5yr term. The odds are stacked up for you to owe more than its worth when you go to sell it!!
You mention contingency plan - theres no point having savings imo if you have debt.
Pay as much as you can and finance the rest!!

Would they not give you a trade in price on that corsa which you could then put the £500 (or whatever you've got) on top of?
When I got the Ibiza from Vauxhall they gave me nearly £2k for my old Ibiza that had a massive dent in the front wing and a blown turbo trade in

Assuming its over 10 years old you'd get £2k if you scrapped the Corsa. Add another £1500 to that of your own cash and the monthly payments would tumble!

How far are you away from 12 months? If its only a short time I'd happily stick with it making yourself £1700 quid better off.
Keep looking, you might well find a better deal. If not, you've got an extra £1700 to put towards something.

In all honesty the PCP we have is great value
basically 1280 down (10%) and 230 a month for 2 years with final balance of 8.5k
Therefore if the car is worth more than 8k after 2 years I am going to buy it and sell it on
if it isnt im giving it back
I've lost who I'm quoting on that....
But surely there is a milage restiction on a PCP like that?

Where is a good place to look at these PCP deals?
The sites I'm finding want you to phone or email for real figures, why can they not just have a table showing you.

I still don't like the idea of not owning the car but it would be nice to have some real figures to compare.

Theres pro's and cons in it as with every thing...........if your happy spending £xxx a month to have nothing at the end then its for you you get a brand new car sometimes with full maintenance package & get to change every 3yrs, only left with Insurance to worry about!!

Might be a daft question, but i'm going to ask anyways
When you hand the car back, i'm guessing you can start over again on another brand new car under a similar scheme (if available obviosuly) Never really looked into anything like this before as i've always paid for my car straight off. However, if your after a new car (as I am at the minute) it seems quaite a good idea.
OK, you'll never lose the car and I suppose in a way its effectivley like "renting" the car for a few years at a monthly cost, but you get to drive a decent & new car on a regular basis.
