Mate, I could walk into the doctors today and say "i'm depressed" and I'd be walking out of there with a handful of Prozac. You'd be alarmed how much of the nation actually take them.

Ok, you know me better than me, you were with me for all the councelling sessions I had, all the hypnotherapy I've been through, each and every one of the panic attacks I've had, all of the doctors appointments I've been to trying to get to the root of the problem.

Whatever you think, I know it's not a walk in the park.

TBH probably not a good idea to do this on CS - not exactly a "mature" audience on here at the best of times...

I think I probably suffer from depression, I'm not going to go into the nasty shit that's happened to me earlier in my life, all I will say is that you should concentrate on looking forward to better things in the future. I don't profess to knowing what's up in your life Robin, but what I do know is that you can't change things in the past, no matter how badly you want to. What you CAN do though is help to shape things in the future. You've got a long life ahead of you, and a lot to offer - concentrate your thoughts and efforts on the future.

Just reading through this and I have to say, Brett, you are no better than anyone else cos you deal with your problems "like a man" and do it "the hard way". Everyone copes DIFFERENTLY, so who are you to judge? Proper depression, none of your "I want a holiday, I'm depressed" shit, real life, mind numbing depression isn't an easy thing to cope with and I'm sure you'll be aware of that.

I never suggested you said you were, but from what you said to Robin, you were very much acting it. "I have problems. Everyone has downers. Some of us choose to get on with it and fight through it and others give up instantly and go to the doctors and get slapped on anti-depressants."
Not everyone feels they can fight through it, they aren't simply "giving up". That's when the depression is severe. I do agree that far too many gp's are handing out anti-depressants like sweets, and depression has become a bit of a fashion for the lazy, but that doesn't seem to apply to Robin.

but do you actually deal with your problems brett? or are you keeping them to yourself with your only outlet being this internet forum, letting out your painful problems and memories as abusive posts towards other members on this forum? brett, tell me about your problems.

Alan partridge once drove to Dundee in his barefeet gorging on nothing but toblerone. That was after his depression.
