Do the sensible thing and buy a 98 spec JDM Integra Type R...

They're possibly the most fun FWD car ever made, and the VTEC kick and noise change at 6k is addictive (old school B18 C5 engine, instead of this moder nI-VTEC in the K20's and the like).

As much as I like evos & scoob's, if it's not new, then they can be absolute moneypits, with poor reliability, and the cost of replacement worn out parts.

The Honda's just take whatever you can throw at them.

1 point proven

2 wrong? i think it was the AFP website where i read they still run the stock subaru bottom end on their cars running like 900bhp?

There's one in particular that's a bit chocolate - think it's number three at the back by the turbo. But as far as I know, they're one of the much more reliable performance cars.

Wouldn't say shocolate pistons. Some even come with foge pistons as standard. Its just people mod them and dont remap them properly. Also no.3 piston can run lean due to uneven fuel rails and so det can knacker the piston.

I think the rcm car shows how reliable they can be when done properly, even when highly tuned!

Its like folk who say Pulsar gearboxes are shite, even tho they have never owned 1.I have and will admit they are shite so things u hear on the net or from friends can be true. However i can say that i never had problems with mine, purely because it was looked after.Same goes with my mate who owns the fastest Pulsar
in Europe,(iirc)(which was previously owned and built by the above mentioned AWD)which runs app 500bhp on a standard box.Its lasted because it has been looked after.

My mate had an early RA(yes the lightweight version with CR box, lightweight body panels,I/C spray, diff control etc) and he spent an absolute fortune getting it running right.

im sorry but the fastest pulsar in europe is more then 500 bhp.

DP Motorsports running 10s also rish's one will be the one to watch out for too

we aint had one problem with the scooby and that gets abuse like what all our cars get its just like any other car you look after it and it will last, look at the silver one that runs about kirkcaldy with 160+ on the clock and still gets hammerd about still on orig engine aswell.

Im not 100% sure on what records the AWD pulsar has under its belt but i do know it has some. Was deffo in the 10s for the 1/4.Runs around 500 bhp with nitrous on top.Wont have the nitrous this time around but does have a higher spec than before.

Yeah they use a different piston to the rest in cylinder 3.............a weaker one!

But yeah it is usually piston three that lets go, its right next to the turbo so runs hot and is the last to be fed with fuel so can suffer from running lean.

Has got nothing to do with the pistons being weak, its down to several design flaws in the engine, people not knowing enough to look after the car properly and poor maintenance and/or mods! Heavy detonation will destroy any piston, no matter how strong it is!!!
