UPDATE
Good news, she's been breathing on her own periodically!
She was breathing on her own on Friday with no aid from the ventilator. She had to go back on the ventilator and sedation as she went for a tracheotomy (where they put a pipe into your stomach via your neck at the front - just above the chest bone). So her face is now clear of pipes etc.
Shes gradually working off the ventilator again though and they hope shew will show signs of waking soon(ish).
Shes also getting to moved to the HDU (High Dependancy Unit) rather than ICU (Intensive Care Unit), which is one step lower on the chart- which is good.
Ive promised my mum (who lives in Italy) that i'l go to the doctor for sleeping tablets and to see a consellor to help me cope with this, which i suppose is a good idea.
So things seem to slowly be getting better, but by no means are we anywhere near a conclusion.

UPDATE
I didnt make it to work today as i didnt get a good sleep at all.
I phoned the hospital today and they say shes no using her ventilator anymore - which is good.
She's first in a queue for one of four beds in Edinburgh Western Generals Neurological ward.
I spoke to the nurse for a while and she says that Rach should have really started responding by now as she's been off sedation for a while. Really started to hit home again. To say im struggling is an understatement.

It's great to hear things are looking more promising now with her recovery and it's even better to hear she has so much support from yourself shes a lucky girl. To be fair your not going to do her any favours or yourself tho if you don't take good care of yourself Even if it's just someone like a councellor to talk to at least your getting your feelings out rather than bottling it up!!
Keep us posted on her recovery and look forward to hearing good news
Best wishes to you and ure misses and the family xx

And here's me sitting at my desk moaning that I'm fed up and wish I was home. Reading this certainly gives me a reality check
Hopes and prayers are with you all, can't begin to imagine what you're all going through at the moment but try to be positive and focused it cant be easy for any of you

Thanks for the comments.
Annoys me when people whine about small shite. A lass at work was moaning about having the cold and said 'someone please kill me'. I nearly went daft but just walked away.
Two weeks on thursday and it will be a year since one of my best mates died. Just hope she doesnt let Rach into heaven....

its not peoples fault when they say stuff like that though mate. people are self centred and tend to blurt things out without considering other situations. you did the right thing by walking away. i'm sure the person who said it realised what they said and probably felt bad afterwards.
