another tip with the PD engines is to use a decent fuel. They tend to smoke a fair bit more with supermarket fuel compared with BP ultimate or similar.
Funny - I use Asda Derv & no smoke at all....ever!!
My cars just passed 100k & doesnt smoke, doesnt even use oil im very impressed with it.
Was considering a remp but well its nippy enough for a get me to work ride.

Colin, makes a decent difference getting it mapped!
Apparently the dual mass flywheel dont like the extra torwue but mines is fine 10k miles later.
Got mine mapped by Angel Tuning.

Acht its just more dead money tbh.
Its never going to be a performance car so im not going to fuck with it.
Also being a derv & doing big miles in it...mainly motorway, I usually find im keeping an eye on the mpg trip rather than how quick I can make it go.
It does its job

Mine needs a few little bits and peices, doesn't affect the overall running. Unlike my 50k 52 DCI clio, struggled to start on cold mornings.

Im getting a funny noise from mine atm actually, its been sinse I lowered it more at the back.
Its like a woop-woop-woop, noise - thought wheel bearing but ive checked & there ok.
Ive got a mate that thinks its something to do with the rear bush? needing loosened on its mount & twisted a bit to make it seat better now its slammed.
Sounds far fetched but im going to check it out at the weekend!!
Any more ideas what would do that?

Diesels can be mapped to produce good figures now. I am not sure about VW diesels but BMW diesels are pumping out good figures stock.
320d is now 177bhp and can be tuned to 220bhp (with a tuning module)
and the 335d is 286bhp stock and can be mapped to 350bhp.
Once you get used to the enormous torque its hard to go back to an N/A petrol.

why dont these car companys map these cars to produce the figures they are capable of?

They have to run in countries with varying climates, emissions, reliability, insurance groups. fuel economy etc etc.

Also cars engine will last longer without running huge torque figures which in turn wear out other car parts at a quicker rate like transmission and clutches etc
