Whitter sorry i may be living in a diffrent world to you, but is that not something you expect when you can pick up a gti for 2k, or a civic for 7.5k, you seem to be stating the obvious..

maybe but at the same time its a total different class of car

307 is a similar size to a CTR

Its like when people compare the corsa to a CTR

right i know the civics are 2L and are around 200bhp iirc, but a mate of mine said last night that a gti would keep up with one... what would a race be like? i would have thought the type r all the way but i know its heavier and the gti is like a tin can...

Seem's they were talking about outline speed etc nothing else. so its not the same at all as comparing a 307 to a CTR...

well it is as the cars are so much different in size hence why a 130BHP car can give a 200BHP car a good go - its nothing to do with the engine its to do with weight - as a result the lighter car is smaller and not as well built

Right so i still dont get what your saying the orignal question was about will a 106 gti keep up with a civic type R, answer, yes it will to a certain extent. Its obvious a car first released iin 2002 is going to have far better features and comfort comapred to a car released in 1996

so to answer the thread yes the GTI will probably give a CTR a good run but its not rocket science to figure out that a car with less power but weighs alot less is going to be nearly as quick

I asked the owner of spooks in leicster at christmas about this. Were talking about 106 gtis (as the company is pure pug) andi said arnt they 130 bhp...and straight away he said you read that on a forum??....yes i reply and he said, and i quote, 'ner dont believe the hpye, people big them up on the net, when we get them on the rollers they are 120bhp

Not big up on 106's so bit blank when folk as me about them (well i suppose i am now due to being on a corsa site ) but this is what he told me!

SPOOX i wouldnt trust them for nothing my mate spent over 3k there on his 106 gti and they still fuked it up time and time again, cowboy outfit IMO.

I wouldnt know if they are good, bad or indifferent. It were my mate that took us down in his 106, i just went for the ride and got chatting.
