Thats the way I'm thinking at the minute. I was going to go for as newer car as i could afford this summer to lessen the risk of bits going wrong, but if theres a chance it would be subject to these higher tax prices, i may as well get a crappy old diesel, run it on anything i find in the kitchen and chuck loads more crap into the atmosphere. After all i only need it for the summer... it all sounds slightly arse about, in that its cheaper to run a more inefficent car that could quite possibly chuck out more crap than the most pollutant RR sport etc.

Agree with whats been said about bunging Road Tax onto fuel, surely if its getting based on emissions then it should be on how much you produce through your mileage, not how much your car has the ability to produce. Someone might do 100k miles in a Group A car paying feck all roadtax while someone else in a High group only using the car at weekends does 4k a year but is having to pay £1000.
Im sitting now wondering what a kit car would be classified as.......Caterham anyone?

I do actually feel sorry for the people thats tax has gone right up. I imagine a lot of people with high emission cars will be thinking of selling up now

300-400 is a fair chunk of cash just to have able to produce. Not sure if it will see off people buying those cars though?
Kind of makes older Pre-2001 cars seem ever more appealing.

I think £300 is fair for the amount i use my car, if i only did a few thousand miles a year i would be really fucked off.
Bet this leads to more people driving around without insurance as well.

Thing is, when I get my ferrari, I'll blatently only use it for the odd blat on a sunny weekend, I don't want to have to fork out £950 to just have it sit in my garage ... they're proper cunts.
The main reason they've upped the prices like this, is that when they decide to re-try to implement the pay as you drive scheme it'll look like a bargain in comparison!
then they'll have tracking in every car...
then... auto nick you for speeding etc.
Big brother is watching They want us all to have ID cards / chips too ...
