Last 2 weeks havent been good for me, at the end of the day I just go yeah its an old car, its a conversion too so I'm bound to hit problems but cause I use it as my daily car I just feel so battered.
Plan is to have the linkage resolved by tonight, enjoy it this weekend and some of next week, then once the Passat is insured next week the red car is going to be broken (on purpose this time )

alex - I'm sure reverse is there, but my gearstick wont let me put it into reverve. At the moment to get first gear, I have to do the lift-up-reverse action and sometimes it goes into first, sometimes just third.

Hopefully mine will be ok as i do stupid amount of miles
yeah diesel can be naughty in a petrol car, alot worse putting petrol in a diesel though as the diesel acts like a lubricant whereas the petrol is corrosive or something.

Mine did this.
Needed a new gear selector for the inside of the car and a new linkeage. I lent the car to my mate, came back with three gears
