i had the same problem when picking the Polo up from VW. Insurance messed up and didnt send the cover note for us to pick the car up, they sent another and then sent another by courier. I think VW ended up with 3 cover notes in the end. Insurance charged a few quid for guaranteed next day delivery of the cover note though.

I think dealers are giving unrelistic pick up dates just to get cars out quicker, this isnt giving enough time for people to organise insurance & in turn the ins company to get the paperwork sent to the dealer. Heard of it happening loads recently!!

Not really, It should only really take 2 working days maximum to get insurance documents sorted out if the companies any good. You buy a car say on monday morning, get home and phone the insurance company to change the docs over before "close of play" at 5. They should easily be able to print off some pieces of paper and get it in the post for last collection, meaning you'd get it the next day if sent 1st class.

It's partly the Insurance company, partly the Post office not being able to check the electronic database of insurance liek you can online.

Don't norwich union do drive away
insurance? or they did? When i worked at a garage, customers did driveaway insurance which is a 7day no obligation free insurance, thus allowing the car to get taxed. Norwich union send u a quote after 7 days but u don't have to take it up with them!

Optional extras are just that. You have to declare them when you insure the car.

you dont, olliver see's my point, the car is standard, and hasnt been modded from the factory

No it hasnt as it was probably built and them wheels put straight on

BUT

For insurance purposes the wheels are different that the wheels that normally come with the car...and would be different to the wheels the insurance would replace in the even of an accident..

Therefore declaration is the key

I was referring to the deal compared to other customers...

I know THEY make a lot of MONEY...

But thank you for pointing that out...

Yes. they can Insure it. I work for a fleet car company. Can you imagine the scale of our job if we had to produce an insurance certificate for every car that needed insuring?
No chance.

NO what I mean is why do they require Olivia to prove he has insurance before he takes the car? Its not there problem...they have there money!

Regarding the tax issue I think its stupid that the garage hasnt taxed it anyway to save all this shite...

Yeah that would work with second hand cars with no tax and obviously new ones, but what about second hand cars with tax and no finance, surely you would not need a insurance certificate?

yes but there is no second hand cars with tax, as soon as they come in tax is refunded as it could sit there for months, the dealers refund it stright away and get some £££ back on it

Ouch - I even saw people looking at cars in this weather. Nutters.

Surely posting on CorsaSport makes up for it though?
