it annoys me when people seem to think it is ok to do whatever they like and blame their actions on their gods will etc. gets my back up.

but thats not to do with religion. thats to do with being a coward and claiming that it was religion which made you do it.
i genuinely feel bad for all the minority religions who are getting bad press because of these few extremists who are blaming religion for their actions.
people need to differentiate between religious people, and people using it as justification.
but in some cases, religion causes problems.

so you feel that when they use religion as a scape goat they only do it because they are cowards and dont really believe in it etc. IMO they seem to be very passionate about their religion's and use them as their main source of motivation for attacks like 9 11

however i do want to point out the problem it not their religions, its the way some of them choose to interpret them.

Some follow it more than others I guess, to a fanatical level.

all religions are dangerous when they are followed by fanatical people who arent all there in the head. When someone believes in a higher being they will do anything for that higher being and when they already have psychotic tendancies which no doubt people who turn into terrorists do,it becomes their main motivation as they link the two things together which causes a problem.

Interestingly enough Rob,
We have been sitting on the same sort of situation for centuries up until recent times...
WE live on a land mass with three separate nations....no scuffles about border rights over here
Diplomacy seems to have sorted the religious issues (for the time being) over our western channel...
Lets face it, the present problem in the middle east is down to the muslims not accepting a jewish state within its midst.
On the flip side, the yanks and the UK etc wont stand for anti semetic behaviour post WW2.
Shit i know, but thats the way it is.
Back on topic....given that liquid explosives have been around for absolutely ages....why have we suddenly realised that somebody might take a mineral water bottle full of the stuff onto a plane?
Thats what has made me wonder about todays hysteria

i'd imagine they would have realised the danger but thought it was so unlikely they didnt do anything/alot about it. Lightning can kill you, but you still go outside in a thunderstorm.

Fair comment, but a bad analogy.
They knew about liquid bombs...but up until today its not been an issue.

I was in Turkey when we heard that Heathrow was closed due to terrorist activity. We didn't have much information, but the plane flew anyway, to Heathrow albeit delayed and not knowing whether we were going to be able to land. To say I was glad to touch down safely is rather an understatement.
I'm not well up on the situation but I'm pretty much decided now that UK shouldn't really be involved. I'm assuming a link with Israels actions and this plan. Or something else the UK is poking its nose in to.
I'm also not clear why Israel even need to invade Lebanon, or why Bush needs to endorse it. War on Terror my ass. Just leave them to it.

According to reports in the US, 22 of them are of Pakistani origin, one is Bangladeshi and the other in Iranian. Officials say all of them are British citizens.
Loving the fact we let them in this country in the first place.
