His biggest mistake was buying one or two players because of a good world cup for inflated prices (diouf 10mil and diao 5mil) aswell as a few younger guys who he took a big risk on making it big and never did (Le Tallec, Cheryrou).

He did alot for Liverpool though, and there was a good core of a team there for when Benitez came in.

diao and diouf were mistake buys, but all the blame can't be put on him for that. and i saw that bruno cheyrou had good potential when he played in the french league, (i thought he was farking quality) and was good to see him at a bigger club, but he didnt perform which was disappointing. my biggest respect for him when he stood up against the borad when there was a lot of pressure on him

the board were never against him and he always had money to spend when he needed it. It was only at the very end that the board got rid of him, but everyone could see he had taken things as far as he could at Liverpool, he had been there 5 yrs and we had started to move backwards (from winning UEFA, FA Cup, Coca Cola cup, Super Cup and Charity Shield as well as finishing 2nd in Prem all in 2001) to winning nothing and performing badly for the next 2 seasons.

typical Liverpool fan. Living in the past. always talking about how amazing you were 20 years ago.

those 20yrs since last May really have flown by

OK then, lets live in today....where are Arsenal in the League? FA Cup? Granted you are doing well in the Champs League but you've got alot harder job to win that than we have to win the FA Cup or finish above you in the league.

This is true. But we did go 49 games unbeaten
