to say he takes coke, or weed etc and that makes someone a "druggie", "coke-head" etc is like calling your mum an alcoholic because she has a glass of wine with dinner at weekends.
you are who you are and i think drugs (including alcohol) just mess up an already weak person.
i know two people who do the same amount of drugs and probably as often.
1 is in prison for stabbing his dealer after getting in debt with him, the other has a full-time job, never been in trouble with the law, funds his own habits and doesn't bare a burden on anyone..
you can get drunk once, and in 20yrs time it will have no effect on you. You can smoke weed once and in 20yrs time it can fuck you up. Same goes for most other illegal drugs. Its not every person, but it happens.
But yeah, I agree with what you've written 100%

this thread is actually seeming really pathetic now, its gone from what would you do to cosmo telling everyone that whoever tries drugs will end up becoming addicted and fucking up their life.
end of the day he told her, she knew and its no one elses fucking business and there are too many small minded people out there

the problem is:
people who don't do drugs don't approve of those that do
and the people who do, disapprove of the people that don't
neither makes you a bigger/better person imo, its just a choice you make.
if every just kept quiet it would be fine

Jim - you could sit in a room for 20yrs and get fcuked up
I'd be inclined to say that's a likely possibility
But then again, what is the definition of being 'fucked up'

No, your getting what Im saying wrong!
Im not saying everyone who takes drugs gets addicted and fucks their life up...infact Ive said Im not saying this a few times! Im saying the vast majority of addicts start as 'recreational' users and end up as full blown addicts. No one can say they know they wont become an addict as effects people differently, its something that you cant control.
My expereince (more than one person) has always been the same, recreational user turns into fucked up weirdo! It doesnt always happen but it is common, and for people jsut to say its OK to take them as it wont get them addicted is just rubbish!

BTW- I have no problem with people taking drugs and know lots of people who do, nor do I care if someone takes them or not. I just have a strong opinion about the term 'recreational' user as have seen what this can mean first hand.

I will look for the article now, was posted on here not too long ago. Was of someone who smoked weed and it has come back to effect them in later life.

there are lots of people out there that you probably walk past day in and day out that have used drugs or use them 'recreationally' and you wont even notice. the people who do become addicts only become 'weirdos' because they have become dependant on a drug that take hold much like legalised cigarettes and alcohol. Just because those two are legal doesnt mean it can fuck you up any less.
Personally i could say that i think your a bit of a fucked up weirdo but then you've said you havent used illegal drugs and dont always drink etc. How can you prove that someone who gets messed up on drugs wouldnt have turned out to be a loony if they had never takenn those drugs.

No where does it say the boyfriend takes coke recreationally, for all the person who told graham knows the boyfriend might have only taken coke once or twice and now its been blown out of all proportion. All the facts arent there which makes it harder to judge

fucking hell this has become mental
all i asked was what would you do?
let me explain myself.
first of all i wanted to know if it would be the right thing to do, to let my ex and bestfriend know about whats going down.
yes she said she knew, but over the last weeks ive seen her get more and more upset and uneasy about seeing him. which is why i thought i'd tell her.
im not pursuing it, i mearly told her, and said i was looking out for her and not to get dragged into it, because shes got alot going for her in her life.
why would i be the jealous ex? jealous of what exactly? a coke head?
there are alot of dicks on here today but your all entitled to your own opinion, the thread has fallen into a slaggin match and in all honesty STFU to the majority of you.
as you for joe, how was prison, take it like a good boy did we?
your the prime example why i told her, from hanging round with sad scum like yourself. so SMB with your lame ass comments.
chris-sri thanks mate, and also to comso, you both talk sense.
brett, i suspect one day you'll realise just how much of a chump you really are, maybe if your daughter or your girlfriend whatever starts on coke, i hope you realise then why i asked the question.
we spoke on the phone about an hour ago, and she said things arnt going too well with her current guy, and actually said thank you for looking out for her, yes i may of come across as the jealous ex wanting to stick my nose in, but like i said before im just looking out for a friend.

I never said alcohol or cigs cant fuck you up as much mentally. Infact because they are legal means they are available to the masses and fuck alot more people up.
And there is no way to say someone wouldnt become a looney, but their are lots of medical research notes out there that show drugs DO mess with your mind even in later life after not taking them. Not everyone is effected, infact its probably more common for it not to, but they are illegal based on this research.

i agree with what you are saying, but it is pretty obvious, u dont just wake up one day and become dependent on something, it is a build up over time.
People use lots of drugs recreationally and dont have a problem.

Interesting topic really.
Firstly now she know's what her bf is up to it's now up to her to sort it out. If she's your best mate then you will support her whatever decision she makes.
I don't take drugs or anything and I have no problem with people who do... as long as they aren't on the streets causing a nuisance (I'm including drunken people in this too!) and to be honest I'd be pretty pissed off if I was in an emergency room waiting for treatment and someone who had OD'd on drink/drugs whatever went in before me.
Each to their own, just don't rob me or hassle for money to feed the habit or hurt anyone else on a drunken rampage.
