Grind the surface clean (where you plan on welding). Use your left arm to steady your right hand (if your right handed.
Look on youtube about angles, power settings, wire feed etc
Mig or stick (mma)?
If its one of the little portable mig things, dont even bother seriously I tried welding some frames from Mates 306 seats, and its no even 1 mm thick, and it couldnt weld them together. All it had was on and off on the power settings! Joke

no is it not???
settings look to be the most complicated thing but pretty sure given a decent welder i could make a decent enough kob of welding 2 bits of metal together

Progress
Spoke to Scott at Lepsons, going to speak to him again on Monday and arrange to take my wheel up to a BMW garage which is about 10 minutes away, they'll collect it, fix it and send it back to the garage
He even knew what colour and wheel it was when I said it was a 16" Softstar
Said it'd probably be about £66 which is less than I expected too. Expected double tbh

can you not just buy a new one ??
would probably be cheaper all the hassle you have had trying to fix it

Tried but nobody is selling single 16" ones. There are a few 15" ones on eBay but that's obviously no good
Work time now

should have bought 4 then sold 3 seperately at slightly inflated price to pay for yours, probably lots of people looking for 1 replacement or a spare
