A vx is a good bet since you like them anyway, don't see good condition, low mileage turbos dropping too much.

The car market wont stabilise for at least a year, and used car prices wont come back up again once they have lost so much!

As previously mentioned the E46 M3 is one of the best used car bargains on the market. a £60,000 car for £10,000 - thats a £50,000 saving in 6-7 years. They are also reputedly the best handling FR sports car money can buy.

Escos will never loose money, they are only set to gain value. not really an everyday car though - more of a show peice for sunny sundays.

BMW X5's are cheap now (£7,000 to be precise) you might lose £2,000 on one in the next few years as they are already mega cheap.

Audi S3's are a good used buy, again £7,000 would buy you a nice example and your set to loose probably 2k in the next few years also.

If i was you i wouldnt look at spending your full budget on any car, as the car market is so uncertain at the moment your best off buying the cheapest option that meets your requirements.

whoever said buy a clio is out of their mind. you can pick up a 172 for just over £2000 now and 182's are falling faster than corsa VXR's

Thumbs for the MX5 here.

Cheapish to buy, great little car, won't loose any more.

Just a bit of a girly image, but then we've owned corsas so that shouldn't matter

Without reading the rest of the thread, my money would be spent on a car thats done all of its depreciating. 10yrs +. Mk2 Golf Gti or similar.
99.9% of cars are depreciating assets. If you intent on buying something for more and newer, get yourself to auction. You can potentially buy something cheap enough that defers maybe 12-18mths of depreciation.
