you keep mentioning this and I keep wondering... what the fuck does it matter what road it was on, it could be on any road on this planet but one fact remains, the limit was 30mph. but for some unknown reason the poster decided to go upto 75, if you want to go 75mph it cant be that far of a drive to the closest motorway

Welcome to corsasport Don't dare post stuff like this
I've been in the situation, just i've always kept a cool head in 30mph areas.
I know the road, 40 is perfectly safe, but 75 is more than double the limit.
Besides, he should have seen the PC plod. Its also a known policed area. Least I knew my old bill was there, just it being an undercover car looking for fun was my bad

As said, what road it was on doesnt matter
If some idiot was doin 75 in a 30 and hit one of my friends or family i would beat them within an inch of their fucking life. Nobody thinks of it this way.
Same with drink driving, you may think 'yeah its alright' but what if they cause an accident and kill a whole family or something in one go?
Original poster doesnt deserve to be on the road, but will deserve the book thrown at them, End of.

i personally cant believe you'd do those sorts of speeds with a girl in the car?
i'd be mortified to do anything like this.
Yes we all give it abit of sport now and then, and yes 75 through a 30 zone is abit much
Probably a huge fine
6-9points
retake the test as in the first year if it all goes through

You know this
But we can't admit it on here, we'll get flamed by everyone who stays 1mph under the speed limit to be safe.

Maybe
However there is a difference in doin say, 80mph on a motorway
And goin Over 30 in a residential limit & killing someone
isnt there? i dont see a mad blast up to speed down a motorway slip road as being as harmful as ending someones life for mindlessley speeding through an estate

Well he won't do it again, it's clearly going to court and they're quite obviously going to present some very strong evidence and he's going to be fined and banned.
I would hope it's dealt with properly and our friend takes on board the gravity of the situation. And there's no question that those speeds on that road are lunacy and very dangerous indeed for those people who are potentially at risk.
I think the comment about being under control is fantasy, there's no possible way that is true. In fact it demonstrates naivety and complacency typical of young drivers. I say typical because I had it, as did most other people I know. Including some in this thread.
Be thankful no one died, be thankful you are not up for custodial, be thankful you don't have to wake up every morning remembering that you shattered someone elses family and took away the ability to watch their child growing up or that you left children without parents. Of course this is obvious.
Then move on and stop doing it.
And if anyone else has more to say than that, may I ask that they are objective about it.
Saying people deserve to die because they speed is nonsensical. Growing up is about learning. Do some.
