Loads of great advice, but you seem to really like the Punto.
But you need to consider that the Punto is 120ps, the Corsa and Clio about 190ps.
If you really want a fair comparison, test drive the Corsa SRi, rather than VXR.
Out of the 3, I'd probably choose the Corsa. But I've never driven either.
But those Signum prices, it's crazy you pay nearly that for a 1 year old diesel Fiesta

Let me guess, are you talking about a 1.6 tdci
I'd test them all and then buy the clio anyway.

Make sure you drive the Corsa as well, just because someone on here says they would rather have the Clio you might dislike the way you really have to work it to make it feel like its going anywhere.

Indeed like when eveyone says saxos are better then corsas. which they probably are. But I drove one and just didnt like it. Its all personal preferance
If you are willing to put the effort in I here that the clio is very rewarding

Not driven a corsa vxr or the new clio but that's exactly what I hated about my 172 and it's just about the same engine.
Doesn't move anywhere unless you constantly rev the nuts off it.

Is it the same engine??
I want to see the Clio first as I've not looked around one yet. I've looked around the Corsa & it seems quite nice, sometimes the Renaults look a bit plain interior wise

Much much better in the R27 than in previous generations.
I woud speak to Dr Pepper off here as he has one now and he used to own a BMW Mini Cooper which is has excellent build quality.
As mentioned above though its all down to personal preference.

Just been on Cliosport forum...either the 197's are poop or people just overbum the 182's!
And apparently the best one to buy is a standard 197 with the cup styling pack. Also the Recaro seats (which look awesome from pics I've seen) are a nightmare for bobbling, there's talk of people needing them recovered after just 8K!

You can't get a realistic view of them on cliosport, there's far too much of people bumming their car even if its shit.

A lot and I mean a LOT of people from various forums I frequent have said that the 182 Cup like Fads is the best out of the lot, the new one isn't even as quick as the figures suggest.
People say the new Clio just doesn't have the driver involvement of the previous Clio.

197 wasn't as fast as my old man saab off the lights, that's embarrasing.
I really like the look of them though.

I think it's kid of like the Cup model, but they remembered to paint the mirrors & sidestrips. Plus they only come with Recaro's & anthracite wheels

I've driven both the 197 and a VXR back to back so I would like to think my opinion is valid.
The 197 is just as quick as my 182 a lot less raw and much easier to live with as its still quite revvy but having 6th make it so much nicer to drive than my 182. As for raw feeling its not the same but it is just more grown up and in line with all hothatches of this era.
The Corsa VXR was great didnt like the visability when parking but it drove well and when I got back into my GSi at the time in comparison the Corsa was so much punchier and had great feels.
Personally I love NA and I just cant explain it but the Clio has that sense of feeling that was missing from the Corsa. As an every day road car the VXR is great with great tuning potential but personally I just loved the feel and the directness of the Clio. I drove the Clio more and did around 15 miles on the test drive on a mixture of motoray and a few lanes and a couple of roundabouts
People who say it wil fall apart clearly do not know what they are talking about as they are prety well put toether although I will admit the Corsa is a nicer car to be in!
