its all very good and well buying an older bigger engined car that kind of beats the current tax system but it will sting you if/when it needs something replacing/repairing!

Well I went to local ford garage today & they had tones of ST's in, Orange one caught my eye 56 plate, ST3 with 12k miles. £13995....offered me £3k for my golf.

Think im going to sell my golf private & save a bit more cash over the next month or 2. Need to get a test drive also.

Had a white 07 plate aswell for 15k I think it was.

Black looks quite well in a stelthy way aswell but think it has to be orange, just because............

Colin, if you had 12k cash I'm fairly sure you'd walk out of there with the keys.

If they don't want 12, walk away - money off with every step I'm sure.

Colin i can honestly say it's one of the best cars i've driven in years! Would easily keep up with my scooby in the handling stakes (not grip) but i'd say a remap would be top of the list to get it to about 250-260 as although it was quick the engine can take sooooooo much more

[biased] Colin get an RS [/biased]

Seriously though joking aside, the ST is a good car to drive- the torque is really impressive and they're good fun to drive. For obvious biased reasons I prefer my RS, but if you're after a more comfy ride that's still quite sporty go for the ST. I also prefer the ST to drive over the VXR too- just my opinion though from when I've driven both.

I was down at Ford in Aylesbury on Fri afternoon to book my RS in for problems I'm having with my new shocks and was chatting to John about the new RS etc. He was asking me why I wouldn't get an ST- so I told him why. And then he was saying that they've been overproduced and Ford are struggling to sell them atm. Matt's now got an ST after selling his RS and the salesman told him exactly the same thing, so you are bound to pick up a decent bargain right now/over next few months for an ST

Yeah that's what I included in my answer to John (amongst a whole bunch of other reasons ). He reckons the ST is overproduced now due to the predicted demand being greater than what it actually is for the ST now: :s So who knows eh.

I really ST's in either white or red

For me though 130i would walk all over it in terms of performance and handling

The problem with ST's are they are very common and are losing lots of money already

Interesting................is this with used stock or new cars?

I'd love a facelift but there going for around 16k pre-owned which is too much.

I actually did wonder if this would change much in January whenn the RS goes on sale. I expect there to be lots of ST's getting put in by owners collecting their new RS. Might drop in value a bit & id have saved enough for a facelift by then!
