Am I right in thinking the ring is just a toll road so if your insured to drive abroad you dont need any extra insurance for the ring?

99% of insurance companies exclude the ring, either in name, or as a one way toll road

I asked my broker if he can cover my car for a few days in europe, he did it for no charge. Pretty much everyone wont insure you at the ring

So do most people use the ring uninsured and if they crash they just fork out for the damage to their car?
Just googled this and it appears alot of UK people just chance it.
