Thing is what i have been saying ALL ALONG is that you couldnt even tell there were tints on there, i never knew they were tinted! You cannot tell the difference!
Its perfectly possible to be victimised, i have probably had more life experience than most people 5 years older than me especially with the police and the criminal justice system!
NOVA_GTEUK has got it spot on IMO
We all take things differently, and i dont like to accept bullshit from coppers. Its not all coppers i know 99% of them do a great job BUT it seems to be these road traffic coppers that are the most arrogant cunts that ever lived!
They belittled me in from of my mates, but even though the fine and points. I and the other officer had the last laugh at the officer who accused me of being on the phone!
Like i said, thanks for all your help. I dont like being put in the catagory of a young boy racer scum bag though. That i am not.
RANT OVER.

You aren't allowed any tint on the front window whatsoever but they only have to allow through 75%... therefore allowing the (illegal) Renault std and VW std blue glass... but you aren't allowed to put any film or anyhting on the front windows... its there in the Highway Code as well IIRC

Its not illegal to have tints on the front windows aslong as they let through the correct percentage of light.
I would find the link on vosa but it seems to have gone.

It IS illegal to have any film on the front windows... the DVLA notice in the tinters I was at the other week quite clearly states it is illegal to apply any film to the font windows
Thats different, as I said, to the smoked glass (or whatever you want to call it) that eg. VW puts in its cars

I was told if the film lets 70% or over light through than it is fine. No matter whats on the windows. Guess no one really knows the truth as we are told differently! Im gonna get in contact with the previous owner and see whats happened as he did work for ford!

The thing I find stupid is, we were at a cruise in Bedford the other month and I was talking to a Traffic Cop there who was a sergant, and he told me that your not aloud to tint the windscreen, your aloud 25% front, and as dark as you want rear, so if they were a slight tint, I can't understand how they are more than 25%?????

Thats what i mean, your allowed to block 25% of the light, which means your windows have to let 75% through...

If they cant they're factory fitted and should have a etch on the glass to say how m,uch light they let in.
If they can they're aftermarket tints and most probably illegal.
Sorry, thought i made this clear as i said about having to peel them off at the road-side. I guess they will be aftermarket tints. I had no idea that they even had film on them to be totally honest with you... They seemed only very very vert light like hardly anything. I was sold the car by a ford mechanic as a standard car. Who would have thought.
Whats next, not aloud to drive with sun-glasses on?
Not at night, no.

With regard to Tints, people for forget about smoked glass by in when cars are made, so they get a 30% tint put on thinking it will be ok, but really its not as the tint from the factory is already on, so adding film to this makes it illegal.
I work in court & know of a few people that have been caught out that way.

I got pulled for being on my phone when I wasn't. I even let the copper search my car because I didn't even have a phone on me. Obviously he didn't find one then started accusing me of hiding it Goes without saying that he didn't apologise, but I had the last laugh, har har.
bet that made his day
His parting comment was "well, i definately saw you on a phone, but i'll let you off this time" Gotta love 'em.

I had exactly the same thing. He said something like " Well we both know you were on your phone at the end of the day but im going to let you off this time"

If your determined you've done nothing wrong then just ignore the producer, let them send a few threatening letters, chances are you wont even see a court room before it times out & you will get off free.
It just depends if your a risk taker.
I am & I got off with the last 3pts & £60 I was offered.

Lets be clear here - if the car has factory tints at 75% already and film is applied then this has rendered the windows illegal as you have gone darker than 75% which is the legal minimum. So you are in the wrong with the windows.
You could contest it but personally I wouldn't have the audacity to go to court over something when I knew I was in the wrong. Even if you do, there is still no guarantee that you will win. Even if there is a possibility that the conviction is unsafe, you still don't know that it is.
Solicitors say fight it because they're paid to say fight it.
Police officers off the record say fight it because they KNOW that there are weaknesses in the system.
You have neither a financial interest in it going to court, or the proper knowledge about exactly how good your defence is. While those two are true you really shouldn't risk it.
And if you got victimised, consider your attitude when you talk about who had the last laugh. It's not a laughing competition, it's a job of upholding the law. They're not there to laugh and you're not either when they're talking to you.
Facts of life, get a legal car, don't hang around in car parks and grow a beard. I've not been pulled for ages.

EXACTLY! I bet 10p that zetec S front windows already have a "tint" to the glass so that when adding any form of film will make them illegal.
Therefore contesting it will just make it worse, id take the fine/points.

not entirely true, if you go to the tint place in swansea, theyy check with a digital reader the percentage, you can then decie if you want tint on top thats legal or not.
standrd tints are only about 5 - 10 % at most they can add a film which could add the extra 15% making it legal.
and light tints imo all round look classy, just tints in the back looks like a van and awful

You know 100% that standard tints on a Fiesta Zetec S are 10% max do you? Because from looking on the net they seem to be higher.
Stop trying to form an argument against everyone else when you don't know the facts.

A girl i know had her Fiesta ST her front windows where 10% rear 3 where more standard.and its the same for the zetec s.
and considering proper car tint places have about a hundred diffrent tints to choose from all with diffrent percentages.
And i know the facts as you say after asking my mate justin who owns sextons in swansea who also do tinting
