I doubt they got many benefits tbh, I'm not sure if they got any at all, they just worked, which is what they should have to do.
Your ideals mean that they'd just survive off the back of people who have done well for themselves.

Why should it be a level playing field, if my parents work their arses off to provide for me and my sisters why shouldn't they be able to give it to us. Why should the government take it and give it to people who don't give a shit.
Everyone is capable of making money, its down to themselves if they want to earn it.
This is my point-- I would say that if your parents leave you a decent sum of money that they have worked for then you should get that money tax free.
But if your parents are leaving you £10 million then you should pay alot of inheritance tax on that.
At the moment we have a system where if someone is left 10k they are paying the samerate of tax as someone who is left 300k -- that isnt fair imo

You sem to have this idea that everyone who is rich has worked hard and lives a good, clean honest life. What about the royal family and all their hangers on-- shopuld they be taxed at the same rate as someone who works 40 hours a week at minimum wage.

Royal family are a joke that are kept where they are because of the English and some Scottish who have no idea why they like them, I have no responsibility for that.

That simply isnt true im afraid - what if you are disabled physically or mentally, what if you are born the son of a crack addict on the worst estate in the country, what if you simply are not intelligent enough to earn high wages, what if your parents are disabled and you are a registered carer.
Most people would love the opportunity to work hard and earn high wages- for many people this opportunity simply does not exist and they should be given as much help as possible... taxing the super rich is imo the best and fairest way to do this.

Your dad made a decision to have a big family-- thats fine -- he also made a decision to buy a big car to move you all around-- thats fine too.
Why should he pay the same tax as someone who decided to have one child and buy a 1l corsa?

He has two children. me and my sister and chooses to drive us around in relative comfort. we had a corsa for 7 years btw and we had to sell it as we were out growing it.
The point i was trying ot make is, i can see the point in hyking the tax on 4.4 v8 4x4 but shurley not a small people carrier with a lytl 1.6 engine - for me thats piss take tbh and its just another way for the government to take more of our hard earned cash of us.

I'll vote labour for everything else they've done thats made this country better. Just because they've made a few decisions that have annoyed you doesn't mean that the conservatives are any better.
Plus that Cameron fella is a grade A, top notch penis tip. Slimey as they come. I'd vote for Same Difference to be in power over him.
I know it doesn't mean a lot to me as Im selling it, but would my road tax go up? It's a 2002 1.8 Astra Coupe. Was £220 for the year last time

grated but labout have also fucked around the tax rates, abolised the 10% tax rate at the bottom end of the spectrum so the first band of tax is 20%. That makes everyone in that tax bracket INSTANTLY worse off they have also increased the tax elsewhere.
They have fucked everything up royaly tbh imo

If you can prove you need an off roader for where you live, or your job then you should pay reduced tax... if you are just using it to drive round town centres then you should get taxed through the arse
Theres also no reason why people need 2litre engines in a small hatchback . Of course, yeah you are taxed on emissions so you can drive whatever car you want etc.
You dont need a off roader to be able to own one, same as you don't need a 2litre engine shoehorn'ed into a small hatchback.
At the end of they day, some modern 4x4's does not produce as much emissions as sport cars. Its unfair to categorize ALL 4x4 as high pollution and the deadliest car on the road

I don't particulalry disagree with the idea of taxing the people with more poluting cars, however, I think it's a bit harsh back-dating it to car's that people already own. With the current state of peoples finances with fuel, mortgage payments, energy, along with pretty much everything else due to them being reliant on those three, it's a bit harsh to add an even bigger burden onto people's budgets who are already being stretched by everything else. Put it on cars registered from say next April (so as to give time tot those who've already ordered theirs) and people have no excuse as they knew what they were getting into when they bought it.
You have to remeber, the people who decide the prices on road and fuel tax don't have to worry about it as they most likely claim it all back in expenses anyway .

Yes this is my feelings aswell; i wouldnt have bought such a high banded car if i would have known it would have been an extra £240 per year to tax as i dont drive it enough to warrant that!

They've also got you over a barrel, as if you change your car, you'll most likely loose out - especially as few other people are going to want the same burden.

The roads are in disrepair full of speed ramps. My Freelander is an absolute joy to drive in those conditions compared to my Astra.
My only complaint is that it is a little slow which is why my next car will hopefully be a Disco / Volvo XC90 or perhaps RR Sport if they're cheap enough.
I certainly won't be buying an economical little car and being rattled around on crap road surfaces and pointless traffic calming measures. Big cars are entirely the way forward, particularly anti-social ones. I don't drive a car for anyone else, I drive it for me. And if I have to put up with speed ramps I'll do whatever is within my financial grasp to lessen their impact. I may even buy something old and smokey and run it on home grown bio diesel if a new car gets too expensive. Less tax, less fuel duty, more pollution and I stay selfish and comfortable. Way to go Gordon.

ps. even if it was a grand to tax, my insurance has come down because I'm old so it only costs the same as I was paying on Corsas years ago.
Quite looking forward to buying one cheap as a result of this announcement tbh.
Vote Orwell.
