I used to get this all the time eck. Took me a couple of years to get over an ex. She really did break my heart .

In my circumstances she wouldnt have done what she did if she loved me wanted to be with me. If its ment to be then it will happen.

I don't think it is about forgetting, that is difficult as you can't really choose to do that one day and magically it will happen.

I think if you've a pile of DVDs that remind you of her then displace that memory by watching them again yourself, or with company, friends or a partner - doesn't matter. Not going near the pile just strengthens the memory as you're not changing anything.

Thinking about the relationship or them being somehow able to hurt you is only possible because your own perception of your situation now is not as strong as the older memories.

Of course it is hard - but you can't have insurmountable expectations of what you can cope with. A LOT of moving on is about actually making new memories, not trying to erase old ones.

I'm comfortable with my old girlfriends, can think about them without being upset, because I'm also content with my current life. It also means I'm able to look at their lives now and feel the same, even if this includes new partners for them. Just need faith in the decision and some clarity in your current position.

I get this quite a bit but i have to see my ex everyday as we have a little girl together. Weirdest thing about my situation is we got on really well as mates.

Like Ian said you need to do certain things or go certain places that remind you of her with a mate. Things like that definatly help. If it still gets you down look on the brightside your in good health and a future ahead of ya with pleanty of chances with new partners.

I saw mine the other day, wasn't nice at all, apparently I still have feelings for her even though she is/was a cunt and it was quite some time ago.

If I saw a picture of her laying on a bed, I'd be feeling quite down about it

I deleted her number, MSN address, etc, made no difference, I still don't feel any better about it
