The car could be perfectly fine, probably will be, just factor in the resale value that you'll lose when selling.

it wont, but if you are happy to accept a loss, or similar return then go for it, 2350 isnt amazingly bad price for it

Just make sure it drives as it should, feels right, panels all line up & paint is right ect. Could be a nice saving if your not arsed about it being catD, no one will know at the end of the day it wont make it any less of a car, so long as your comfortable with what your buying thats all that matters.

lol I paid £2500 for my car - over 3 years ago! (although I did get a cheeky bargain as it was worth £4500 at the time haha... gutted his fault for needing the cash to go travelling and the flight deadline approaching!)

£2350! fuck off. if it's cat-d'd I'd not give him over £1500.

I work at a repair garage.

A write off has to be around 60% of the cars value.

So if the cars worth 4500, then it must have been at least 2k's worth of damage. My friends P reg 306 was a write off last year, Cat C, so was fuck all damage, was a Cat C cause of the age of the car and what it was worth.

Also Cat D doesnt show up on the log book.

One lad at my work has had 6 cars now, only one has been normal, all rest were Cat C/D. Even if it was a Cat C repaired, it has passed a test to say it is safe enough to be on the road again, dont know what people piss and moan about.

because its worth less? harder to sell etc noones saying it wont be safe, but no matter how well its been repaired it wont be worth as much as a clean history one, and will be harder to shift

also depends on when it was crashed its a 2002 car if it was crashed in 2003 its only a year old so the state of a cat D might be alot alot worse because its only a year old it might be alot worse than say a car whats a cat D which is a 1999

TBH it means very little

i know someone who crashed their car quite seriously went through the insurance etc and was classed as a cat C

When she sold it the guy ran an HPI check and it didn't show up

I would take HPI's with a pinch of salt. As long as you accept you will never knwo the full history of a second hand car etc then you will be ok
