agreed, good call on this.totally fair.tbh if it happens on other corsa forums, let corsasport be the forum to realise it and make a change to it

this website is quality 99.9% of the time.its only as stated in this like when people wreck your thread with unwanted comments.its childish doing it to peoples threads but it seems wierd the people who have done it moan when people do it back to them

finally glad youve realised its happening ian

On the contrary, I've known for a while that a proportion of users do not have the intellect or strength of character to exercise the basic human skill of being nice.

I've also seen much flagrant disregard for rules over the years.

The policy change is sheer exasperation and disappointment and having to give in to stricter administrative policy because asking nicely doesn't work.

I'm very angry at having had to do this.

im sure harsher warnings before the bans would have saved alot of the banning. theres alot more worse stuff said which people have not been banned for.

But some people just don;t listen, and ban's are better,

what else is there? run around chasing all you's giving you's warnings, remembering who you are and banning you the next time?

nah 48hr ban never killed anybody, and you've learned your lesson?

oh im sorry shep the good samaritan. never seen a bad word come out of your mouth. im not saying the comments were right but had i been given a warning they would have been edited and removed and not happened again. also tbh i and many others have never read the rules for posting in classifieds.

There you go.

And no I'm no good samaratin, I'd say some of the things I've said in the past earned me a 48hr ban,

But the comments you made seemed to be a priority problem, just made at the wrong time for you to get away with a warning unfortunately

Another Idea,....

The reporting problem users in the for sale section, its a bit of a mess,

can there not be a topped list of users that have been a problem?

I wouldnt say you need it so much for a good or well reported seller, its really of a higher importance to warn users of problematic/scammers/timewaster

and is Corsasport registered with the ripper database? heard it mentioned on MIG, its where problem users info is posted for admin of other Vauxhall sites

Just some suggestions, and trailing through that bad sellers thread is a pain

Just remember that all of this takes time and development. Time and work that Ian and Tim would need to take out of their own time........ just to sort out people not obeying a clean set of rules.

Quite unfair to Ian and Tim IMO considering what they are already providing.

i know it is extra work for those involves but is it possible for authors to moderate their own classfieds? only in terms of deleting rather than fully editting.

seems the only way imo to pls both sides, ppl can give praise and give thier own personal opinion, often useful if genuine "saw this a PVS great example and a truely great sound photos dont do justice" for example while other -ve comments or useless questions can be deleted.

its a hard situation and agree with Ian its a shame it has to come to this. it annoyed the funk out of me that ppl dont think to read the FAQs or tutorials section before posting in Help Zone and Ian has good reason to be annoyed these basic rules arnt being followed and tbf their not hard to follow

But really,

Do you see the autotrader, pistonheads, or ebay ads ful of comments saying

"Diz iz a wel nice car bro init id wel by dat if i hadz da moneee"
"That is a very nice car mate, I'd buy it if I had the cash" <<<more common on Corsasport

well no, and its a good point. but they have a set format for each advert. for a start there is the chance to have a photo of the car and basic details (ie engine size, mileage) "search page" and doesnt require clicking each link to gain further details.

both are closed format. as a forum, CS is open and people know other members and in this case more importantly the cars.
If for instance Deano87, All Torque or Willay commented on my car it means alot more than if Colin or Whittie did given the distance they are from me. they either havent seen it, or only would have at PVS.

like i said its a tough situation.

to really tidy those sections up i would like to see moderation on the thread titles. in Help and Classfied they are often lacking detail "Help needed" or "my car for sale" rather than "issues with rear brakes" or "1.4 16V Flame Red Corsa 84k miles for sale/splitting" - ie, must/should include engine, colour, car (Corsa) mileage and price in title

i sympathise with Ian and the mods as there is only so much that can be done and very little to please all

Im constantly u2u'd by members off here with complaints on conduct within for sale threads. I welcome the change imo. A for sale advert is just that, an advert not a discussion thread

Exactly, when I was selling my car on here my post was mainly 'If I had the cash' 'Its too expensive' in the end I got one U2U off someone who was happy with the price and took it at the full price. It was a good hassle free sale and I doubt it would have sold as easily without CS but you don't need all the other comments that come with it.

I posted a thread a while ago last time I was thinking about changing Classifies around and the MIG software didn't go down so well - I liked it personally.

Definately note the point that the adverts are not discussion.

the simple answer is start collecting address info for premium membership sign up, simple process to store it all in the DB. Im taking everyones address as part of the pro member sign up on vagweb. It will come in useful for future purposes too.

For sale ads can then only be made by premium members.

This isnt directly related to this problem but will help no end with the shitty sellers that keep coming on here

Ok I think..

-20 posts or so before being able to post a for sale ad (will deter the ones that post a for sale ad and never reply)
-Allow users to bump the ads and allow moderators to post in the ads to enforce that a base price and location are shown
-also a whats it worth section would be usefull (would stop people posting in GC and encourage people to put a price on a classified ad, Used on AOC and is very usefull)
-24 hour warning and its deleted ( if there is no location or price)

I dont think there is any need to make it premium members only or gather addresses there is no need to go to that lengths
