Don't think I've gone that long tbh. I've gone several days where I've only had a few hours sleep each night though.

3 days. 85ish hours.

Did it for a bet in college (5 days, but only managed 3) Slept on day 4, but the morning i was driving like a pissed old man, was totally un-approachable, moody, arsey, and went past the stage of been tired, it was like a drug. Strange feeling, but I got £100 out of it

hmm, i just don't feel tired now which is kinda annoying, as I really want to go to sleep so i can wake up tommorrow early.

oh well will give it a shot, oh well just over 41 hours is my 'record'

I'll try to beat it one day haha... to be honest if i didn't have lecture's tommorow and knew i was gonna have to drive at some point, i'd just not bother sleeping again.

night all.

I think the most I've done is around about 36 hours... Ie, woke up Saturday, travelled down to London in the evening for a night out in Fabric, then travelled back home at breakfast time on the Sunday, then go to bed Sunday night.

Expand on that?

What are you talking about tho, going without sleep for 3 months = death I could understand that, in the same way without food for 3 months = death lol

but in the same way u can go weeks without food I'd imagine u could do similar without sleep.

Quick google search -

There's little evidence that lack of sleep, or sleep deprivation as it's known, causes any immediate physiological damage to the body. However, it certainly affects how you feel and how your brain works, and it can interfere with work and home life.

If it goes on for a long time, there may be some risk that it can cause some health problems, such as aggravating existing heart disease.

It's hard to find a way around the situation of the demands of a small baby, young family and a need to work to make ends meet. Most parents struggle through this period with a desperate need for more sleep.

Take heart that there is light at the end of the tunnel, even if it takes some months to get there! But do try to find ways to rest at least, and get more sleep if you can, because otherwise there's a risk that all the family will suffer.

Tiredness can affect mood

Few people actually like feeling tired, and that sense of fatigue can make you grumpy, irritable and unable to function properly. Chronic tiredness can increase vulnerability to depression and accentuate other mood problems such as anxiety.

Brain power reduced

Sleep deprivation can also affect your performance by reducing cognitive ability - that is, your ability to think and use your brain. Combined with drowsiness, this can greatly increase the risk of accidents because you're less able or quick at thinking your way fast out of a dangerous problem.

Along with the delays and errors in doing mental tasks, there's a slowing down of mental arithmetic and logical reasoning. Memory is affected by sleep deprivation, with reduced immediate recall, although information acquired before sleep deprivation is normal.

Although it reduces the ability to do simple or monotonous tasks, ones which need more attention and effort aren't so badly affected. Attention and concentration can drag a tired brain into action. However, certain aspects of these complex tasks are affected, particularly the ability to think laterally.

Sleep means rest and repair

No one is sure of the purpose of sleep, but it seems it may be at least partly related to rest and repair of the body's tissues. While many organs in the body can rest and recover during relaxed wakefulness, a part of the brain called the cerebral cortex can only do this during sleep. We have yet to really learn what happens if the cortex is deprived of this chance to recover.

just because you are eating often.

If you reduce the amount you eat, your body adjusts, your stomach shrinks and you don't get that much hunger feeling anymore. Especially if you cut out the carbs and eat a lot of protein (like in the caveman days) your hunger will practically disapear after a few days / week... after your body getting used to eating little, not often and only protein, I think you could stop eating all together and survive for weeks. It'd just turn to solely burning fat. Obviously if you have no fat you'd be in trouble.

I had to go collect some stuff from my mums today cos she's selling the house and found a newspaper cutting match report from when i had no sleep the night before, and I managed/had to bowl 15 overs that day I cant even manage 4 anymore

Robbo, I dont eat much, mainly cos im lazy and cant be bothered with cooking/preparing food! Sometimes I'll not eat anything all day and not even realise until about 9/10pm at night, then I'll worry, grab a snack(cheese on toast etc.) and go to bed! But lately Ive been making the effort as I wanna put weight on and the more I eat, the more hungry I am throughout the day!
