If we're classing Subaru's as super cars I'll tell you about the more expensive to run Evo.
Servicing every 4500 miles, average £350
Fuel consump. 12-18 mpg
Tyres every 3000-7000 @ 750-800
Clutch every 5-20k miles @ 1200
Brake pads every 4000-8000 @ 300+
Would imagine a 911 turbo to cost around the same. Less servicing intervals, probably use less tyres, clutches etc but when they need doing/replacing it will cost more. Gearbox for my Evo was circa 3k too!
And a 911 Turbo is a super car IMO. 190mph+, mega horse power, practically 2 seats.

No matter how far they fall on the second had values, they'll always be a £90k car when new and will have running costs according to that price.
You can buy extended warranty for about a grand from an OPC provided the car meets the criteria.
If you are serious about buying one then ask the same question on Pistonheads - I'd hazard a guess you'd get an infinitely more informed and useful answer.
Quick search on there indicates £3k ish a year plus a warranty provided nothing goes wrong. Obviously you need to factor in the depreciation, especially if you buy from an OPC/respected specialist in which case it'll lose their margin (c.10%) the moment you drive it off the forecourt.

Major service, including a bit of an overhaul, some wear & tear bits replaced new mounts, brakes other bits on my ex, ex boss's F355 was £8k iirc him mumbling about it, F40 could double that id imagine.

I remember him telling me the fuel tanks need replacing, they are 10 grand and there are two of them. That's before you've done anything else.

I think its because they're bag tanks.
Trouble with both Evo and Monaro is that although the stuff isn't all that much more you need them more often - service intervals are less, tyres don't last as long etc.
I think the problem is compounded with proper performance marques as the parts are more expensive. I'm curious as to whether there are enough independents about to mean that used parts are in sufficient supply to sort that though? Burguess mentions one there and I know of one near me who regular strips late model stuff so has pretty good coverage of the major mechanical components.

I reckon a looked after 996 turbo would be on par with running an Evo. Believe it or not, my M3 costs half the amount to insure than the Evo did so insurance might not even be too bad either. The problems will start if/when something goes wrong. My gearbox was around £3k - I imagine something like that would cause a very sore arsehole on a 996 @ a Porsche dealer.

Ferrari have done a bit of work with thier most recent cars. The 430 doesn't have a cam belt that needs changing every 6 miles which means that the engine can stay in the car during service, the clutch doesn't need replacing every other week either which is nice. But then it does only do about 10 mpg. Though saying that, the service intervals on them are fairly short and the tyres cost a fucking fortune

Just like any car then be prepaired for something to go wrong, only not a couple hundred in reserve if you were running a focus.....make it a few grand!! Running costs 3-5k a year including insurance!?

Are these service prices for main dealers I take it? Whats it like if you did the work yourself, just because its a super car doesnt mean its impossible to work on, thats what french cars are for.

You need to be a specialist to take apart an engine from a Ferrari. They are basicly race engines. You will find that the people who do work on these kinds of cars are very skilled.

an engine is an engine at the end of the day, they all do the same thing and same concept. I doubt it would be impossible to drop the oil and change the plugs.

A Ferrari with no official history will be worth next to nothing. I wouldn't be happy buying a 911 either (one under 7/8 years old anyway) without full Porsche history.
