if the robber had a gun to someones head the police arent allowed to shoot..
Section 3 of the Criminal Law act states that a person may use force such as is reasonable in the circumstances in the prevention of crime or in effecting or assisting in the arrest of offenders suspected offenders or persons unlawfully at large.
Reasonable in the circumstances can be lethal force.

Not in all cases - you need to read the latest specs
Also in this case any every other Police shooting case, they were doing their best in difficult circumstances.
I personally thing this one went well and we should be thankful for that. The notion that you can't shoot armed robbers because it somehow puts innocent people in more risk is weak at best. The policies are there to protect the public.
Just because they're used doesn't mean you're going to get shot by the Police tomorrow.

Fair enough you're entitled to your opinion but I think the Security Guard and his family who lets face it are the innocent parties in all of this will be glad the Police fired.

Because if a robber shot a loved one because a police officer shot him.
I'd sue the police force for every penny for not putting my loved ones safety first and then id kick fuck out off that copper.
If they put the hostages safety first they would'nt shoot ask questions later...would they?

so you think they should negotiate in a situation like that, yet........
you would kick the shit out of some one to solve your problems, do you not find irony in this statment?

Irony, theres a big diffrence between killing someone and kicking the shit out off them, would'nt you say?
Yes they should of negotiated and most likely everyone would of walked away with their lives..
The robbers would off known they had no way off getting away from the police and killing someone would off added to their sentence,so imo i dont think they would off shot anyone.ive never heard of hostages in a bank robbery getting killed in this country...apart from in america off course.

:lol one of my neighbours is a close freind of mine and guess what hes a traffic cop, might not be a firearms cop but hes a police officer and even he said to me that it was a bit heavy handed shooting them dead..and as far as he knew in a situation like that a police officer whos trained in negotiating should of been called to the scence, for the safety off everyone concerned

In an ideal world then yeah a negotiater would have been called. However it would have taken time to get them there. If they hadn't raised the gun to the security guards head then most likely the armed Police would have contained it until a negotiator arrived. With the gun to his head though it's too much of a risk his finger could have slipped on the trigger or anything.

Two things - the robbers would have walked away and taken up space in a jail and cost the taxpayer thousands. Proper criminals are cheaper dead. I'm all for it.
Secondly how the hell do you know. My guess is that it must have been pretty close. Furthermore there is no way at all you can say there may have been a solution that didn't include everyone living. That guard could have been seconds from being killed. What you doing to do - ask nicely to hang on a minute while you discuss it over a cup of tea?
