Mate, im feelin down because of the following:

Im home alone. I dont have that many friends or family close to home, most of my mates are on holiday atm.

I dont have a car. I crashed it, nothing I can do it get it back atm.

I have no money, I have a £770 excess to pay off.

I cant see my girlfriend because she is in turkey.

I cant even go for a fuking walk because it is absolutly TIPPING it down..

Im gunna go see what I can do about it tomorrow. Its just nice to be able to get things off your chest.

Well,

I was prescibed diazapam and beta blockers....fuck knows why, my guess was/is they were just drugs to get me to sleep and stop labouring matters in my head.

The drugs didn't work, I had some counciling which did help (talking stuff through) but after a while I thought the councillor was just seeing me to make ££££ for (her)self.

One day I woke up feeling a bit better and adressed my problems myself...sooner or later you have to do that, ignore the problem and it wont go away. Confront the problems (small then larger) then you can move onwards.

Cardio work is deffo the way forward to stop feeling down

No offence to anyone actually suffering, but "depression" is a term used all to often these days.

But wont all that be fixed when:

Your parents, friends, girlfriend come home.

Car - it will get fixed, they always do!! Its just bent metal.

No money - make some more, or address the way you use what you have so your not left with none !!

Rain will stop - its been tipping it down all weekend here & ive been out knee deep in mud building a fence!

Sounds like your just at a loose end & upset about your car tbh

I was at a total downer with my job last year, pay was a joke & so was the manager. I managed to sort things out. It kind of cheers you up seeing hard work & dedication towards something you want pay off!! I think medication would be my last option! My sister was on loopy drugs for depression & they made her worse!!

The doctor will tell you that you have depression.

He cant argue that you dont have it , can he ? As its all in your head and he aint no mind reader.

By the sound of what you said above, I don't think it sounds like depression, just sounds like you're feeling a bit down, maybe too much time to yourself, and not enough things to do with it, just makes you bored, if you've got something on your mind aswell, low on money for example, it gives you more time to think about it which gets you down even more.

It just sounds like you're getting bored and can't help thinking about any problems you may have, and almost exagerating them because of the amount of time you spend thinking about them. When your gf and your family and friends get back you should be able to get yourself busy again, and it'll all be good again, in the meantime just chatting to people on msn or whatever can help out loads or anything you may think of that can keep you busy even if it's only for an hour or so, it's better than nothing.

Yeah you've had a bad week, but you really have to take it on the chin & move with it. You'll have worse weeks than this one to deal with in your life!!

Im not being nasty btw I just think theres alternative ways (& more productive ways) to deal with things than have a Doc tell you you've got depression!!

shit happens to me on a daily basis im used to it now, its all good fun sorting out the next issue.

if anything it has made me more head stronger, i think about things on a wider scale now...

life does seem shit at times, it does to everyone, but thats part of living. no one's life is all merry and joyfull.

i cant give advise on how to sort out your problems, but they will go away and you will look back and laugh, honest, life does go on, and it gets better !

They're surprisingly reluctant to diagnose you with it, at least round here.

Unless you answer 'yes' to 'have you ever wished you were dead' you aren't depressed apparently.

i suffered depression. counselling and prescription drugs didnt work. the advice of a friend helped me and i will share it.

lie down somewhere and close your eyes. if you were dead, this is what it would be like. open your eyes, walk around breathe in the air around you and realise you are alive. appreciation is the best medicine for depression.
