you don't have to be speeding to crash... i hit a traffic light in terrible conditions with slippery roads going 20mph in a 30mph limit. went to turn but didn't turn enough, tried to correct it quickly and skidded into the traffic light...

i learnt from that and i wasn't speeding.

speeding is all relative to the conditions so if they were terrible and you crashed into a trafic light then you must have been going too fast for the conditions.

Can you explain your theory please? Don't understand that if somebody crashes they are automatically 'going too fast'?

i didn't say all crashes are due to 'going too fast'. in this case he says he was 'only doing 20mph but in terrible conditions' and he wasn't distracted or had any badgers crossing his path. My theory is that 20mph was clearly to fast for the conditions in the vehicle he was in. as there were no other reasons for him crashing apart from going too fast into a bend and not being in control of his car.
similar to doing 50mph on the motorway in fog. its not speeding but its dangerous and will be the cause of crashing into another car as you are driving too fast for the conditions at that time. when you get more driving experience you will understand this concept as it is a well know fact. drive too fast for the conditions and crash and its your fault.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Everyone leave him alone, he crashed, we don't have enough information on this matter to jump to conclusions like you all are.

Saying 20mhp is to slow for his conditions is crazy thinking; look at the picture above, what conditions shown would require you to drive at 20mhp? It's an open road. It looks like a 30/40mhp limit, doing 20mhp is not to fast. The road isn't that busy, the roads are dry, weather looks good. For you to say 20mhp is too fast for the conditions described is ridiculous.

Stop trying to make him feel guilty, for something which may or may not have been his fault. We simply don't have enough information to judge.

The main thing is he is ok, and if it was his fault, I'm sure he will learn from his mistakes.
