Firstly this happened with an ex years ago she was saying all sorts when I saw messages on her phone (like her mate was using it to text him while they were in work  ) said ex ended up with this lad 5 minutes after we'd split up (2.5 yrs together). I'd sort it out right now, tell her if she was considering it then fine but to be honest. If she's considering it you either need to fix whatevers wrong or fuck her off and in turn kick fuck out of him
Secondly, the whole girls as friends thing I agree to a certain extent with col and brett because most lads are after one thing, they may not even start out wanting to nick your bird but if they get to close it's inevitable (been on both ends tbh). I would however say that if you have known the girl for years and years and there is fuck all there that it's normally gonna be ok, if you are a lad and your gf is talking to or spending time with a mate she has known and been close to for years and you storm in saying she should fuck him off you'll end up getting fucked off.

I am not good at having girl mates infact couple of examples..
Nicky - started out as mates ended up getting me insured on her car and making me watch about a boy after I shagged her once feck off
Ellie - met up abotu a year ago after being mates when younger, put the lips on her all got a bit messy
