I kind of agree with Stcheven, although its not the RS Turbo, which lets be honest most consider to be the best Escort (bar Cossie) I wouldn't want to take a good condition one of its age on track.

The built for track comments, any information on this? As far as I'm aware its a 1.6 Escort with a spoiler and bonnet sticker!

I'm saying I wouldn't want to take a good condition/restored RS1600i on track. I'm doubting its track credentials too, although to be honest I don't know much about them.

They are quite strange actually.

They sort of defy logic and physics.

For example, if you were to drive an XR3i hard around a track or on some decent road, you wouldn't have a particularly nice time.

However, if you were to hammer an 'i' under the same circumstances, a car, which to all intents and purposes, is remarkably similar, you will find it is quite a different animal.

I suppose the best example I could use to describe the difference in the cars would be the cavernous gap in standard between say for instance, the scrambled eggs you would get in a travel lodge, and the ones that your dear old Mum would lovingly make for you with plenty of butter etc.

They are both still portions of scrambled eggs, but one is entirely different and superior to the other.

Summary Jim? The 'i' is better on a track? Would you track one yourself?

Certainly would Seamus

Apart from banger racing and collecting the shopping, that's all they're good for mate.

It's a FWD hatchback for goodness sake.

All mate.

S2s are not realy gonna cut it on a track, same as an S1 or any other force induced FWD car.
