Why wouldnt they as that would mean being "controversial" thus selling more papers...

She never wore it for the interview as wearing it would be detrimental to the childrens education therefore putting her in a position were she may not be successful in getting the job...

We do not. There was a news article a few months back, which appeared on BBC news on the TV, at 10am, then at 12am, there was no mention of it, or no trace of it on the internet. It had been removed by the BBC as they were told to.

Jules S saw it too, not just me, I remember him saying at the time...

please explain how on earth, some one could regulate all the hundreds of media publications in the uk.

We obviously do live in a free country as there would be no way on earth to regulate all the publications and stop things from being said.

The bbc may be another matter, not sure, but come on a bit of common sense really.

Fair enough if we only have a few newspapers that were government owned, but theres no way to control the content of newspaers that are owned by PLC trading on the stock exchange.

Not to mention the very things were talking on, the largest media outlet you can get really; we have freedom over the net.

unlike other countries were the goverment control how people access the internet, that is no freedom of speech.

Ms Azmi said she had never received complaints from pupils at Headfield Church of England Junior School, in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire
Of course not - they're too bloody scared, or its the norm.

quote:
She added she would remove the garment, but not in front of male colleagues.
Unless they are interviewing her for the job, in which case she will display double standards.

Both Muslims and non-Muslims are just getting fed up and tired with Muslim threads on Corsa Sport
Quite.

quote:
Mrs Azmi is very well able to carry out her role as a teaching assistant providing support to pupils who speak English as a second language
See first point.

quote:
Kirklees Council earlier said that Ms Azmi had been asked to take off her veil in class following complaints from children and teachers
Children and teachers in lack of communication shocker.

quote:
Ms Azmi later admitted she had taken the veil off to be interviewed for the job by a male governor
This, if true, makes a mockery of her complaint.

And thats just conjecture you dont know they were told to remove it, there could be any number of reasons, a break down in communications, they thought it would be best to remove it, it wasnt important enough to put on the site, human error ect, hundreds of anomaly's as to why there was no trace.

The newspapers are regulated in the same way that Ofcom regulate the TV.

If Ofcom can regulate 100s of TV channels, someone can reglulate a few hundred papers.

^^^haha, they should not be allowed to wear them, as mentioned i would not go into a msoque/temple etc wearing shoes etc. This is a Christian country, they should respect our laws/rules and think themselves lucky with what they get away with. France wont tolerate them, why should we?

Direct or not...its happening in OUR country...

its their country too. being muslim doesnt always mean you are foreign. ANYONE can follow Islam.

This country is prodomently Christian, our heritage is such. This is where our "culture" is born from. It doesnt mean you have to follow it(christianity), its happened over 1000's of years. Want to follow muslim laws that dont correspond to the country you choose to obide in?

Leave.

These are OUR laws, not for dispute. This goes for any silly twit stupid enough to ride a motorcycle without a helmet.

laws are the for a reason, cannot be discarded by "religeous beliefs"

**I havent read the whole thread btw

They shouldn't and there is no obligation for them to wear the veil (covering the face)

In true Islamic terms, this is not compulsory.

There is a section of the Muslim (if they could be called such) community where the women should be covered like that. The Iranians, Iraqis and a part of the Pakistanis (and other parts of the world) dress like this.

In this current debate, they shouldn't wear it. Nothing against the Shariah

Bout time europe had another crusade to clear a few of the rude piss taking bastards out.

They offer nothing to society, but i bet 80% of them are involved in money laundering/benefit claiming.

Good point about J.Straw's timing of his declaration

I'm in the 23% of the Muslims who think that women need not wear the veil
