BUT, i cant drive a big power car on the road, because of insurance.... does this make me unable to judge it as a passenger? no.

Next time you are at college ask a lecturer this:-

A/. How does braking/not braking/trail braking effect a cars handling in the start/middle/end of a corner.

And

B/.Then ask if using/not using/feathering the throttle in the start/middle/end of a corner will have any effect.

Once you have the answers to A & B above, please post back here how you can judge a cars ability from the passenger seat

Don't worry about it Rob, the people in this argument are clearly idiots. I say that the only reason people are going to buy this car are for the badge, Jules calls me an idiot, then makes the same statement futher down the page

Oh, and for the record it doesn't take an engineer to know that putting large ammounts of power through the front wheels of a car will cause understeer, and shitloads of it if it hasn't been thought out. Especially when the engine is sitting by the headlights.

thats my point though, JC did actually say something like why bother with ferraris etc when you can have one of these so cheap, he banged on about its perfect handling and being perfect in every way. yet this crappy vectra that was bad in every way managed a lap time very close to the mondeo? and was quicker that the 254bhp 4wd mazda in a straight line. we all knew it wouldnt do that well well on a track as large family fwd saloons generaly dont. i also remember meat pie sri making a topic about how well the 4 vectra vxrs he had at work(police) done the job of being a high powered pursuit car, i think he even went as far as to say they were better than a volvo t5.

funny how all the other magazine and tv reviews have been pretty good for the vxr range
