not really most diesels will have a torque figure spread over far less of the rev range

there max bhp figure will be spread over less but im sure max torque will be as low in the revs as yours

FFS, im going to give up in a minute
The torque may be made as low as mine but will be spread out over less of the rev range, so the torque curve will be completely different.
The max bhp is not spread anyway, bhp peaks, like you are trying to say torque does, it sounds like you are confusing BHp with torque

both peak no matter how small or insignificant that point it it will be there it has to to as its a combustion engine
even google say so http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=torque+peak&meta=

torque has a point at where its highest yes, but a peak kind of insinuates thats its rises and falls pretty sharply, like the peak of a mountain, which torque doesnt, call it a peak if you will, but this isnt about the correct terminology for the highest point at which torque "peaks"
this is about your original statement that its best to change when torque, as you put it, "peaks"
I was showing you that that statement is incorrect as there is no definitive peak point in a torque curve, it should rise and stay flat, so all you can go on based on your statement is where torque rises and meets the maximum level, which on a lot of cars is quite low down the revs, and if you were trying to get the best out of your engine would be foolish to change at this point
at the end of the day, top marks for having a crack, not bad going for a girl, but you are not correct and your understanding of torque is also not correct.

ps. the 2.2 drives well, and I would favour it to the turbo in certain circumstances, which I've also driven.
Trying to score points off each other about who knows the most isn't working. I would be curious to see whether anyone who thinks they've won the 'beat-the-girl' competition can actually come up with something worth reading that clarifies the matter.
I've certainly no current understanding of the difference between the two.
