all a matter of opinion...i could generalise and say all corsas were crap, but i don't because there are some good ones
I'm interested...what defines imprezas as chav cars
why aren't corsas chav cars ?

Simple -- chavs drive them. To be honest you could say that any performance car that only costs a few grand now is a bit of a "chav car". Corsas are chav cars too we don't deny this -- not so much the C's as they're a bit more expensive...
Same happened when 200SX S13's got cheap enough so loads of young people went and bought them, modded them badly, and they achieved their current status...

Hehe, well this thread has made me laugh!!!
I doubt it will be running 400bhp if its still on a standard TMIC. Depends on what Impreza it is as to what intercooler it will have.
Think its very hard to compare a 2 litre Corsa to an Impreza, very different car. In a straight line in gear (not from launch)the Corsa is a quick car but under any other discipline it doesnt come out so well. Handling is poor and composure under hard braking is dangerous which can only be expected from a car that was designed for shopping and to carry a maxiumum of 1.6 litres and just over 100bhp. Grip is also hard to come by.
The other thing is that a Corsa with a 2 litre LET and 300bhp has had a few quid spent on it. Forget what the car costs but you spend that money on a Preza and you will have a much faster car. My P1 is only running 330bhp ish, Ive barely touched it and still manages an easy late 12 quarter that wasnt even with a heavy launch cos I dont want to pop anything!
As for Muppetsport thinking cos you have a slipper you will suddenly be able to outhandle a 4wd Jap rally car? I aint gonna have a dig but you arent serious are you?
I used to think my old Corsa was untouchable when I was 20 aswell. It wasnt until I had my arse handed to me by a Suzuki swift GTI round the bends that I admitted defeat. Yeah I had twice the power but I was in this lanky, bubble shopping car with a daft engine in it. He could brake later cos he had better composure, he could enter the corner faster cos his car was designed for that engine and he could get the power down better out of the bend. Well I managed to catch him on the straights but low on behold.............here comes another bend!

It does me considering it sits in a garage 5 days out the week. Was cheap and I can get parts/servicing cheaply too

Thats what I thought which is why I mentioned it

I supposed what my original comment should of said was that now I've been in an Impreza and have been in Nova LETs previously that on a straight (not corners lol ) this particular Impreza would of been beaten by the Nova no problem
Corners didn't come into it as I know an Impreza will go better round the corners, was just suprised the Impreza wasn't quicker than it was

It wasnt a dig at Corsas by the way, I was just saying how it is! I turned my Corsa from a 1.5TD to a 210bhp 2.1 16 valve nutter, I spent thousands but loved every minute of it! I Learnt loads about cars too (cos I was always fixing it!) BUT I wouldnt do it again!
Im not just guessing how the Corsa brakes/handles/grips, I know cos I did 4 years in one! I know there have been advancements etc since then but suspension and brakes can only go so far in making a family hatch chassis sporty!
Ive had loads of performance cars since the Corsa and I can honestly say the best handler (not the best gripper) was my old 200sx but the best allround package has to be my P1.

I'm the first to admit they're a bit chav though I remember when the R-Tec car park was full of them with tinted windows and 19" wheels...
People always assume if you slag off another car you're saying that your own is much better though

Yep this is another reason, for a balls out blast i cant beat my corsa,
but i need something comfier faster and thats designed for 200 bhp - hence astra coupe. Jap stuff i cant insure
And im hoping to save enough from my placement year to build myself a kit car, so can go with dad on track weekends etc.
But thats a long waay off

cant really compare them though..... like chalk and cheese.
The corsa is fun, no doubt.... but its not even half the car a STANDARD UK TURBO IMPREZA is... let alone any STi's...
sheer pace isnt the measure of a car... you have to be able to use it etc....
