In regards to the last post.. I also find it very funny that Liverpool supporters are "laughing" at Newcastle paying loads for Owen... yea i admit its loads, but when you club spends 7mil on Crouch? How can u laugh at someone paying a lot for Owen?
£16million is nothing for Owen. Drogba cost stupid Chelsea £24million and Owen WILL score more goals for sure. Even with Chelski's rotation policy Owens goals to games ratio will be better.
I agree. Just had to laugh at scousers laughing at the Toon paying that much for Owen when they wasted £7m on shite.

They wouldnt pay more than what they sold him to Real for, which makes no sense as when Real bought him he had 1 year left on his contract, where as now he has a few.
I cant believe nobody else went in for him tbh.

Thats the trouble with bigger grounds, people rise to the occasion. Bit like us at Leicester and to a lesser extent Palace.
We use our ground to our advantage. Nobody wants to play at KR, its a hole. But its also a Fortress for us.
Can't say i'm confident about getting a result from your boys.

Well Arsenal didnt because AW is a fkn racist Im afraid its impossible fir him to allow us to have more than 2 players that can play in the 1st team at any 1 time

To be fair, Newcastle are having a very rough spell but hopefully it is just a transformational period :?
Im actually one of the few sensible geordies out there who dont think we are going to finish in the top 4 just because we have signed Owen but I do think a striker was crucial for us this season or I could have seen us finishing somewhere just above the relegation zone. Owen will get us goals there is no doubt about that and will also take a defender off Shearer so that will allow him to get a few more chances as well.
As for our poor start to the season, it maybe isnt as bad as people say. Maybe a few years ago under Robson you might have fancied your chances against Manure but how many teams will go to Arsenal and get anything? 1 point from 12 sounds awfull but if you write off Arsenal and Manure then its not "quite" so bad, bearing in mind we had only one striker who is boarderling on being past it.
Someone above mentioned that our team is shit...well I disagree. Given is world class and would walk into nearly every team in the Premiership. Boumsong had his moments against Manure but other than that he has been solid since we signed him(granted on an inflated fee). Stephen Taylor is simply awesome, regardless of his age this kid will be future Newcastle and England captain!! Our full backs are a problem but Carr can do a job on the right most of the time. A midfield of Parker, Emre, Bowyer, Dyer and Jenas is as good as most out there. How Parker is not in the England squad I do not know (well apart from Sven being a twat), he bossed the whole first half against Manure and kept Keane to a whisper. A forward line of Shearer, Owen and Luque isnt a bad prospect either in my opinion, yes Shearer is almost over the hill but he absolutely murdered smack head Ferdinand in the air on every occasion.
Question marks can be raised over the squad as if we pick up any major injuries I think we will struggle but I honestly believe we can aim for a Eufa cup spot this year.

Some good points but i wholeheartedly disagree that Given is world class... world class keepers dont make naywhere near as many mistakes as he does or let in so many goals but to be fair u wud have to see him behind a decent defence...
