Dunno about you , but dont think i could notice 0.3 seconds difference to 60. Also ive read reports that the Z20 engine has a big dirty flat torque curve from 1500rmp onwards, and, ive experienced for myself that it pulled like a train in the Asta GSi my mate test drove .

no, but revo the LCR for bugger all cash and bye bye Z20LET

Oh right, i forgot you can't do a similar thing to the Z20

"the 225 version, only hits 60 in 6.9"

what would you expect/like to see then?

Also As for the "everyones biased cause its a Vauxhall" comment. If were going off driving experience, performance stats, and "X" factor, then i'd be getting a CTR. There cheaper, nice looking, faster than both cars mentioned, are bullet proof, and have better residulals, aswell as being cheaper to run and insure. Mates got one, and i love it, But i'd still preffer an astra coupe/gsi myself .

The way Skinz went on about "performance to match its looks" which i'd have thought the leon would have with an extra 35 brake, i was expecting at least low 6's .

why we talking about 0-60`s again? people buying cars based on its 0-60 is joke, and sadly more and more young males are doing it.

What brakes as the astra got? nice brembos like the LCR?

Plus dont forget the VAG build quality.

CTR being faster than an LCR, thats debatable, any difference would be marginal. Unless hills were involved

Dunno why people are saying a CTR is cheaper? The 888 is £7500 to be exact... Normal turbo's seem to be around £7k for decent miles...

If I wanted a fast car I'd go and buy something older and Jap that would be sub-5 seconds by the time I'd finished. I'm not after something like that -- I want a nice newish car, that isn't a Seat...

I'm not biassed towards Vauxhall -- I've considered 5 or 6 other manufacturers. Just really don't like LCRs (and people say the Astra is just a tarted up family car )

Buy a motorbike

No seriously i'd have one of those 888's for the money over a LCR (but if we were talking £3k more i'd be having a newer lcr) if that makes sense

Compared to the normal Coupe the 888 is lowered, sitting on Eibach springs and dampers. Seventeen inch ‘OZ Racing’ alloy wheels are fitted, shod with 235/40 Michelin Pilot Sport tyres. The standard car uses 215 width tyres. The brakes feature an uprated Ferodo brake pad material, giving improved brake pedal feel.

The Coupe’s standard interior has had quite a make-over. The interior features significant changes, including ‘Sparco’ front sports seats finished in blue & black Alcantara. The same blue Alcantara is also used on the handbrake gaiter and gear shift gaiter, while the alloy handbrake lever and alloy gear knob are unique 888 designs. The revised steering wheel trim is finished in blue Alcantara and black leather. The pedals feature 888 alloy extensions with the addition of a unique 888 alloy foot-rest. Finally, the centre console which houses the multi-function driver information display, ventilation controls and audio system is colour coded to match the Europa Blue exterior.

On the exterior, the 888 wears a unique 888 body-kit which comprises a front bumper splitter, rear wing, side skirts and wheelarch extensions to mirror those used on the BTCC race car. All Astra Coupe 888s will be finished in Europa Blue pearlescent paint

getting quite a lot more for £500

as i said above 3CM, tonnes more for the money. 7.5k for that car is a definite bargain.

How many miles out of interest?

52k -- I'm aware they need a new turbo at 70k, but with my annual mileage being approx 3k I'm not overly worried.

I haven't seen the car in the flesh yet -- might be in a really bad state. We'll see at the weekend
