 | not a track expert but i cant see whats wrong with it, i did notice quite a few points though the cars infront pulled away at much faster paces so obviously they were not really trying

 | you are missing the point its not being frowned upon by us, but by actual track marshalls who are there week in week out and are used to seeing all sorts of driving.

something must have been amiss with the driving.

either way i dont really care how he was driving, its not really about being overly aggressive on the day, but coming on the internet afterwards, making kills lists etc, thats when it gets cockish.

 | I am adding a Subaru Impreza and an Evo to my kill list.

Overtook both of them today in my Corsa 1.5D. They were parked up, but still counts.

anyway looks like u had fun! was it your first track day? i would say goto a dedicated racing track if u want to come across faster drivers! and may sit your driving more!

 | Standard of driving in the video looks fine other than some really shit lines. On the overtake it looks like they all slowed down for either slow traffic or a cool down lap, I wouldnt have said there was a massive amount wrong.

Dont really get why your so aggressive towards some of the slower cars though, its not like your rushing to get somewhere

How come you answered all those questions apart form the insurance one?

quote:Not at all, the decision was made by a marshal who makes decisions like that all day every day. My guess would be that he didn't listen to the briefing and did something wrong, and got told off. The exact detail is a matter for the marshals but it must have been something. His feigned innocence really sits on my tits.Originally posted by 3CorsaMeal

You shouldnt get into a situation where you are out braking cars. I havent watched the vid yet, and I'm far from perfect on track - BUT to my knowledge I'll never try out braking a car into a corner on a trackday where its not allowed in thier rules.

 | ok - watched the vid now......

wasnt a close call but judgement could maybe have been better - you came from a long way back on the inside of the corner....

 | The fact that the Marshall said he 'almost' got black flagged tells me that despite the rules saying you shouldn't overtake under braking, he could see there was plenty of room and it wasn't actually an unsafe manoeuvre.

Regarding people having too much to lose etc I completely agree and can understand why they don't want to drive their 100k GT3 flat out, but they should be moving out of the way of other cars as they are clearly wanting to drive faster, everyone plays a part in the day being safe & enjoyable for each other

 | Like what AK said, its the outbraking you shouldn't be doing. The only time that should happen is if you have consent, I've let people through before on the brakes, indicating and on the brakes early, so its still a safe pass.

 | I guess I'm just used to bike track days, I really do go 'balls out' then and never get warned or flagged... You pretty much exchange paint round corners without anything being said...

Like this photo, they were going pretty slow so dived up the inside... Far more risky because if you low side you take them both out, but that wasn't deemed as unsafe so it's hard to get your head around the strictness of car track days.

 | I'm going to go against the grain and say it becomes very frustrating lap after lap people slowing you down. I wouldn't of gone up the inside but it wasn't like it was close to where the EVO would turn in so i think you're judgement was fine there.

 | Heres my video from bedford, two exiges, Porsches, r26 megane. I'd say i did them all as it took quite a while to catch and pass them granted different drivers and they'd probably be quicker.

Ignore the music there was loads of wind noise.

 | It was a cunt of an overtake tbh if that evo would of stayed on it and went accross the right line instead of taking the cunt of a line you took, you would of wiped him out, simple as!

As for stuffing the GT3.... get over to the ring and see how many you spank yound there... nil

 | and to add... most people who do trackdays arent dickheads! if you come flying up there arse you let them take the right line through the bend then 99% of the time they will come out of the corner indicator on and move over the the faster car as ian said it not a race.

I let the Sirocco through as he was clearly faster (380bhp and a good driver). The Citroen was an out-and-out track car but I was faster, let him through to have another play with him.

Uh, I was going a lot faster than him and even after out braking him I was still carrying more corner speed. He couldn't have hit me even if he wanted to...
