So hitting the kerb didnt break the steering rack no?

Maybe your NOS solenoid wasnt purged?

MOT wouldn't necessarily spot a worn track rod end, particularly as there's usually not much clue that it's about to fail.

This is why I like having the ability to tow stuff. I crashed 12 years ago, similar story, they have your pants down because they know you can do nothing about it. The Police and the recovery garages are in cahoots to fleece people for as much as possible.

i havent read it all as i can hardly understand a word being said

by the looks of the damage there is a new wing, new bumper, possibile suspension if bent

more than £50 anyway

and a track rod end doesnt just fall out especially if its just been mot'd

i smell shite

look i'm rounding it up! All i know is it's damaged to fuck and got written off due to the police bringing in 3rd party which fucked me over, if that never happened with them getting 3rd party, i'd be back on the road as i can strip a car apart.

Cut your losses mate. No offence but it doesn't look worth more than a few hundred quid anyway.

The police aren't going to know how much the depot charges are are they?
You say the Police told you it will be £125 to recover it to the depot, which it did, so you can't sue them.
The depot can charge what they want, so you don't really have a leg to stand on to take either the Recoverers or Police to court.

the police didnt take your car!

the depot is within its right to charge what they like!

funnily enough your not allowed to leave your car crashed blocking road/pavement. police arent being impatient its the LAW!!

and the police told you how much it would cost to get it recovered? surely everyone knows you pay for storage these days!

just read your story m8 n sorry to say that you were stopped(or stopping)
the t.r.e wont just ''fall out'' as you say.
the mot WOULD have noticed as they jack the front end and check for play.
only way a t.r.e would fail is if some amateur did the tracking eg wound all the threads out.
please explain acccident more accurately to re-asses.

Okay.. passed the round about, there was a 50 sign, i was doing 45.. chilling, lights was on green then went quickly onto amber and getting ready for red light, which i had no chance to get passed so i braked like normally, maybe alittle harsh, but not as much, the left wheel on the car turned towards the curb(in speed) which then bursted the tyre then hit into the railings and stuck half way in the middle of the pavement of the pedistian crossing and the road.

It had it's mot less than a month ago. all breaks was fine, a machanic diagnosed the track rod worn out when did the breaking which cud of happened even on the motorway which would of been more deadly.

after this there was a police holicopter in the air, then 2 mins later the police came.

and all off above was said. I said to them i didnt want to go by my insurence as it would be cheaper me fixing it but they insisted if i dont get it moved in 30mins they will move it, so i had no choice and rang up AA but they was useless.

tbh, ive had a ball joint snap which caused my car to fly off onto the other side of the road and bounce up the kerb. luckily it was late at night. the police came and got my car moved and i got charged a fortune. this was many many years ago so i can only imagine its worse these days.

yeah it can just fall out. it might be 10 years old or more. it might be rusted as hell on the threads. its entirely possible that it did happen.

I work for a neighbouring police force.

At a RTC, police will arrange recovery if you cannot clear the road within a reasonable amount of time usually 30 mins or so. By clearing the road ie removing vehicle by trailer, recovery or just getting it right out of the way.

If you cannot, police will get a contractor out to recover the car, which is payable by your insurance company. This is £150-£250 in our foce, depending on the type of recovery - ie front end lift, full lift, hi-ab, rollover etc.

The recovery then charge a set amount per day (£20 a day here); this along with the recovery fee is paid by insurance company, generally, not in cash by the driver, unless they are not claiming on insurance.

I cannot see how a police-contracted recovery company will charge £350 a day. no way - can you imagine any insurance companies paying that?

Maybe £35 a day, after all, the car just sits there until the insurance assess it and then repair/write it off.

I think most people care about another member smashing their car. It's a bummer no matter who is to blame!
