Fair play to the lad for being honest imo, sounds like he knows he has been a knob as well.

Just hope you learn from it mate

I don't get this I really don't. My first reaction to getting in a car is to put on a seatbelt, it's like an automatic thing without thinking about it, isn't everyone else the same?

i never wear seatbelts unless im in a car that beeps and tells me to or im on the back seat behind someone else! i understand why i should wear one as iv got quite a fucked neck and back due to my head smashing through a windscreen and my chest crushing a steering wheel!! BUT ever since one of my friends had a nasty crash and was told that he would be dead if he was wearing a seatbelt iv never felt safe wearing one(car rolled a few times and he now has metal plates in his skull but at least hes alive)

ummm, there are cases where NOT wearing a seatbelt could have saved your life BUT this is outweighed ten fold by people who would have been saved if they DID wear a seatbelt

Looking at a minimum of Driving without Due Care and Attention for that. Expect a court visit and 3+ points and a few £000 fine. Hopefully sufficient to ban you for a while so you might learn not to drive like a knob.

We've all driven like tits at one point or another. Unlucky, just a shame you had to learn the hard way. Hope you feel better soon.

How can you say this when you know nothing other than what's posted on an internet forum?

Because I know that would be the offence I would be looking to prosecute him for if I was the officer attending the accident.
Because I would be writing recommendations for prosecuting for DWDCA in the collision booklet completed following the collision.
Because I know that the fine and points falls within the scale of sentences issued for similar incidents by Magistrates.

That do?

Edited to add: Witnesses from other vehicles will say he overtook them in a 30 limit, Ambulance will say he wasnt wearing a belt. All contributing factors to DWDCA.

I attend and deal with RTCs way too often, sometimes several times a day, so have a bit of a clue as to what causes them, and who is to blame. Bit obvious in this one, even without the admission from the driver (OP).

Once again "How can you say this when you know nothing other than what's posted on an internet forum?"

No-one on this forum has any of the facts; I'm not saying he won't be prosecuted; I'm simply saying without all of the facts I don't know enough to make such a bold statement

if the OP's comments are correct the driver of the second car who pulled out to overtake whilst already being overtaken could be prosecuted for DWDCA and If I'm speculating and they carried on, they could also be prosecuted for leaving the scene of an accident.

Hell whilst I'm at it, the driver of the first car could have TWOC and a provisional license with a car with no MOT, tax or insurance and be prosecuted for TWOC, Driving otherwise in accordance with a license, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, Driving with no insurance - could have even been DUI - the point I'm making is clear; I don't have the facts, nor do you so we would both be speculating given the limited information posted on an internet forum!

i was simply posting a picture of what my car looked like, im not condoling what i did but I have defiantly learnt from it. as for calling me a dick you don’t even know me fella.

quote:

wheels look ok?

yeh they are but the tires are trashed and i don’t know where the centre caps went

quote:

I put my belt on before I’ve even put the car in gear and taken the handbrake off

i do normally but as i was the only one in the car and not driving very far i though i wouldn’t need it

quote:

no tyre marks or anything? did u actually touch the brakes?

yeh i was pumping the breaks then realized i was going to go into the back of the car and i think i just panicked and locked the brakes up, for some reason the marks don’t show up on the picture :S

I think most us (the normal people on here , not the goody 2 shoe gob-shites) drive or have driven like maniacs from time to time or even every day. I think that the only way of learning your lesson is to be in a crash like you have. Would definetly set me straight.

Like you say, I or anyone else other than the OP knows nothing, no FACTS or otherwise. Taking what is said by the OP as FACT, my opinion as to potential outcomes is as written above.

Why would the OP lie about what has happened? For internet points? Woo. He has no reason to lie, after all the pictures show the outcome, and he has said what happened.

Lets face it - many on here will make bolder statements, having no clue as to the real outcomes of it.
