have you every driven a 996 / 997
big fat and lazy.... Thats somthign id'd say about an A6 or Jag etc....
Look at model history of golfs for example and compare it with a porsche. Both get larger and heavier as peoples and saftey demands increase.

Id say the 911's got a bit of a fat arse
Lazy, well the carreras no slouch but it wont feel as direct & raw as a 5cyl turbo, you'll know your going fast but in a different way. Nope ive not drove one im just grinding gears in my head & relaying what id think it would be like
Has anyone here drove a 997/Focus RS to compare them...no?
How'd we get onto this anyway, I was only pointing out my choice of weapon £30k porker!!

A6, not RS6.....
I tried racing a friends RS6.... he zoomed off into the distance it top gear usingn cruise control.
I was in the navara.....
32k for the AutoTrader 997 carrera Conv is pretty cheap.
I think i'd need a more special model of 996 or 997. The 993 'S's' have nig fat arches so look a bit special.
25k on a Focus is pure lunacy.

'Pretty cheap'?
I've not seen one that I would consider under 50k ...for 32k that must be well high miles or a CAT something.
Back on the orginal topic, 996 are well cheap.....BUT
The recent engine replacement on my dads cost £5k+ and that was a goodwill gesture from Porsche after the engine replacment under warranty.

£50k for a 2005 C2 There not THAT much new are they, 70k? So worth under half that value now should be right!?
Miles are about avg & I wouldnt think its a cat anything.

The issue here (as everywhere) is cars being leased and everybody giving them back when they realise the bubble payment doesn't cover the cost/value of the car in question.
Hence the raft of cars (porkers in question) just out of two year warranties that are seemingly worth a great deal less than the list price.
AK...the first engine let go due to the well documented issues. Cant recall what they were but it was a massive failure.....which resulted in bit of valves/metal/oil on the floor.
The second was a cracked/warped cylinder liner.
Hence I wouldn't buy a 996 without getting some serious warranties

Do they only have a 2 year warranty from new?

I'd imagine they have a whole host of different warranties and optional warranties. Google it.

No the bad boys 911 (assuming you're talking about bad boys the film) is a 930 911 Turbo.

Might be a 964 Turbo, I dunno. I've only seen the fiml once and google images is confusing.
Edit, yeah it is a 964. The 930 has the impact bumpers and the one on Bad Boys doesn't.
