I guess you'd be safer in the m3, so it'll have a higher Ncap rating, but he'd be safer still in a volvo

when i was talking to a girl in a car dealership over in the states. just general conversation she was telling me her parents bought her a 5.0 v8 mustang for her 16th birthday present and she was buying another car to keep the mileage off that one.

i was amazed a very poorly setup car with a huge engine for someone who is just starting to drive......... what a great combo

Are drivers the same in America, here it would be round a tree tomorrow but apart from freaky cases like the M5 one is there the same culture in America?

But you're making out because it can do 120 he will, and he'll die.

Where as you're also making out that because being in a corsa at 70 would scre them, that they wont.

As much chance of him killing himself in either if he drives like a prick.

Or, just maybe, he'll also have heard that story and he'll not go racing at an airfield in the dark

It wont happen John.

Having a decent car at a young age means he has to crash it. Even if he doesnt want to the rules are that he has to.

Just like the rules are that all children of rich parents MUST have high powered cars?

What was Joes? Corsa? Does his dad not love him?

Having a decent car at a young age is all well and good, but having a 400bhp M3 as a 1st car is a recipe for disaster IMO.

Thats not my point - Im not saying all rich parents should buy expensive cars, much the same Im not saying all poorer parents should buy cheap ones.

My point is that why should it matter? If they want to buy him one, for the fact they want him to have a decent car, or to show off, or think he will be safer, or whatever, then it doesnt mean he is going to go out and kill himself anymore than someone who has bought/been bought a £500 tinpot Saxo or whatever.

If the guy is a prick when driving then doesnt matter what he drives, he will kill himself or someone else.

This is my point above - why?

If he is a prick driving then yes - but the same would be true if he has a 1.2 corsa that could do 70. He'll end up smashing either up.

Agreed, but it's increasing the chances of a big big mess when something goes wrong.

And it may not be him, it may be someone racing him that fucks it up. I just think it's too much responsibility for someone so young. That's what it boils down to.

How does it increase it? You'll no doubt say its faster - but he doesnt have to use it, or abuse it - if he does then thats his driving and he would do the same in any car.

Could argue its safer as has better brakes, stronger construction, etc. which is similar to the faster arguement.

Theres more chance of him losing controll with it being 414 bhp & rwd.

That wouldn't happen with a FWD Civic.

One of mates was brought a brand new 57 Plate Polo 1.4, within 3 hours of passing his test he crashed it racing someone. He got lucky, he wasnt injuried nor was anyone else. The car was a write off.

He claimed that he was "cut up" by a girl in a Corsa. Some how her insurance paid out and he got a 08 plate Polo instead.

Yes Cosmo, i agree but having a M3 massively increases the odds of him showing off \ being a dick.

He is a Child! (16yrs old) with a 155mph car that will slap him all over the place.

Not if he is a sensible driver - which against boils down to my point that if he is sensible in any car he'll be fine, and if he is stupid in any car then he wont be.
