Modern Vauxhalls now have a 20,000 mile service or 1 year.
Even the VXR has a 20k oil change life. New type of oils.

I've just been to remove the sump off the damaged block as I need to use it on the replacement engine.
Didn't like what I found.
2 conrods have snapped, Here's the aftermath.

Didn't feel too great either, That oil (if you can call it that) sat on top of the baffle plate was actually in the sump and thicker. I had to get wrist deep through the hole in the baffle to pull all that crap out.
Just my luck the baffle plate is part of the sump and I can't remove it

by the look of that oil, that has had overheated badly.
50k is nothing to the miles that my gf's mum's 17td had done without a service. 117K and 8 years since its last service 150k on the clock now and still running well and this is no joke!!!!!

That must be miracle oil as most oils lose most of their protection after 15-20k.
There is no other reason for the oil to have cooked itself other than old oil, Car never overheated etc.
I find it hard to believe that a car can run 117k miles on the same oil. Bet it's a right mess in that engine.

Apparently the Vectra ran sweet as a nut until it just lost all power.
I honestly can't see how the shells didn't start knocking first though.
