Are you a complete tit? Why not?

So you don't think 300 bhp in a front wheel drive isn't excessive ?

depends, if the chassis can handle it, why not ?

Correct me if i'm wrong, but theres plenty of reviews about it not doing to well compared to other hot hatches with the current power on the handling side of things.

Define 'better'?

Faster?
build?
looks?
Handling?

Both cars will have its merits in different areas. I prefer golfs in general & the VXR's never been one of my favourite cars, never drove one, just not keen on the looks!

300BHP through the front wheels...

It'll need a diff = check.
Big wide wheels to get the power down = check
Good chassis = Check (pending )

There was a time when people said 200bhp was far to much for a FWD....

Then that figure raised to 250bhp a few years back....

Now most hot hatches are 220+bhp and work fine. Technology develops, so does engines, chassis, gearboxes, suspension so its always going to go up.

I think the issue before with FWD power is also down to the engine and its delivery of the power, engines had to be really tuned to get 200+bhp, where-as now we have them in normal roadcars, with lots more potential.

Old BTCC engines ran over 300bhp, new ones are airflow restricted and still reliably make 280bhp odd. So really, anythings possible, with the right things combined.

Few more years, we'll see 300+bhp FWD variations

Fair enough, I like them just because they set it apart, with a couple of other touches from an A3.

The problem with the S3, is it's a Golf, in a fancy frock, with a higher price tag, and not any better.

Looks wise though
