Unfortunately, i would not step in, i'd ring the police, but step in when they are highly likely to have a knife is not my idea of helping someone

If this had happened to my niece id like to think someone would step in,just like id step in if i saw it happening to somone else.
Everyone says this countrys getting worse,standing around not doing anything about it how is that helping?its letting the scum win because they think they can do what they want.
In the war you didnt hear people saying oh we'll leave somone else sort it out, no the whole country pulled together,even though people where petrified of being killed.
On the council estate i used to live on the residents now patrol the estate all the time,in their free time and thesse are mostly pensioners who are making a diffrence patroling with just a torch,one got stabbed a while ago but two days later he was out patrolling again.

So youd stand there on the phone while a 14 year old girl is being beaten and raped because your to scared to intervene?

No, i'd continue on my way and then ring the police, a local guy to me was kicked to death by a gang of twats a year ago, he went out to ask them to move away from his house because his daughter was sleeping
I value my life much more than that of the desire to go and try and help someone when i would be clearly outnumbered, and if, as that article says, they had a knife out, most likely stabbed

Totally agree with strick. Phone for help but don't intervene. Confronting a gang of 16 or whatever is just foolish and in this day and age they most probably all have some sort of weapon on them, and tbh will more than likely use it.
As much as it sickens you and you want to help, getting killed wouldn't be on my agenda.

i agree with nova i couldnt just walk away wondering if in the 5/10 min it could take the police to arrive that maybe the girl had been raped/beaten a few more times,maybe shes been moved again so by the time the police get there shes gone or worse in that time the gang have had there fun and killed her!!! i can understand the people with the kids wanting to get away but not the two other males
i wouldnt think oh il jump in and be a hero today just couldnt let something happen without at least giving it a try even if it only holds them off her for a couple of min as who knows what could happen to her in that time if you hadnt,christ lads were talking about a wee girl getting gang raped here

sitting here telling my mum about this cos she hadnt heard about it so showed her this thread and she just told me that when i was a baby my dad used to do taxis for extra money and seen a couple of men setting about another guy so my dad got and went towards them to see if he could help and then saw that they had a knife, now my dads not a big bloke or a fighter but he still jumped in, the other guy got his face slashed open but my dad managed to get them to stop and take the other fella to hospital,with his statement the two lads got put away for a couple of years! cue my mum shitting it incase anything hapend to us, a few months after release 1 of them slashed someones throat and he died!!
if my dads got the balls to do it anyone has

The problem stems from the fact that a) there aren't enough prison spaces so the sentances people get these days are a joke and b) these little fuckers aren't scared of going to prison because they are too soft on them. There are examples on a daily basis all over the country of people who have committed in excess of 30 burglaries getting 6 weeks in prison So that's out in 3 if they behave themselves (that'll teach them). The "kids" in these gangs are violent, thieving little shits but the detached do gooders of this world seem to believe that they are all just misguided children who just need an arm around their shoulders. This Country needs to get real and fast.

So what would make them think twice about killing you? a potential witness and someone who could get them identified/sent down, you'd be a liability to them.
There are some people with sense, and many without it, usually the terminator wannabe's.

so many times on the news over the years have people been getting killed for standing up for stupid things in my eyes even the poor fella who went out to the gang playing with that digger in the street , and many others where people have done something thats landed them in hospital for things when id be one of the ones to stand back and get on the phone and leave it at that

Yes, but one of the crips had a frigging knife, and i'm sure many people will agree, 2 on 1 is one thing, 2 on 1 with one of the two having a knife completely different, you're at a high risk of being killed or seriously injured
