One of these days I'll have a car worth going round in

My plan was to do it in the Corsa this year, but it blew up at the beginning of the year so that was that scrapped. Maybe next year, who knows what I'll have.

I would do it on the bike but I will be too scared to push it so takes the fun out of it.

Fact is you will only crash if you drive like a knob end, no offence to anyone like you jr but in racing terms your still a rookie few trackdays and 2 trips to the nurburgring dont make you PRO.........

totally agree with rest of what you said........ best way for me to get accross what i mean is few weeks back my mate let me have a go on his honda fireblade and previous to this id only ridden a dt125, but i rid sensible and funily enough never died

sorry, but what ever you have decoded from what ive written is rubbish

i said, as alot of people on here may not be at the stage where they have done a few trackdays etc that in my opinion, this is not a place to practice your skills, espically first time out on that type of enviorment, you need to be at home having cars pass you at 150mph whilst still remember braking markers, apex's etc, something which IMO you jut cant go out and do, if you potter round at 60mph its also a massive risk to others out there if your in the wrong place at the wrong time

im fully aware that i by means am no expert, but in a better opinion to judge than people who havent been there

i was just puting across my opinion that it is a incredibly dangerous place

and belive me you dont have to drive like a knob end to crash, people of many many years expirace can still get caught out, and the amount of crashes out there by very capable cars and drivers is scary

i was talking about peoples ability's though not the situations you will come accross there.....

like you said fact is no matter how experianced you are of the place, you still have all the hidden dangers of a rookie or a pro and a rookie will always be rookie without experiance, that was just my point

What an absolute load of crap, sorry disagree 100%

So if you were driving at say 50% of your ability, not really pushing it then all of a sudden an unexpected oil patch on the road appears, you hit and and you crash, if you done that in this country on our tracks you will 9 times out of 10 you will get away with it because of the long run offs you get, as you should be well aware Nurburgring offers no run off areas, you make a mistake, big or small, you crash if you are a rookie or a skilled veteran.

Until you have been around Nurburgring I wouldn't expect you to understand, the track is miles apart from anything we have over here, I could sit here all day explaining how the camber of the road, even on fast 130mph+ straights varies from 100 metres to the next, you think you might have mastered a partciular part of the track and then the next minute you are understeering into the wall.

Non of us are pros, we won't ever be pros. But I would rate Jr's driving as of a very high standard.

Agree with oli. I wasnt pushing hard. I wasnt driving at 100% of my capabilites. I spun it and crashed. It was damp at first...then for the next 4 or some miles a dry line was developing so i were following that.....then bang all of a sudden like a ice rink, back end some round in pretty much a straight line

Corsa120 have you been?

3 days.

10 mins on the timer, but that was with a stop on the track. That was when I went out with me & Fad and was hacking it around, I suspect you could easily chop 30 seconds off that time.

It's not really about how fast you go around though, Jr was going past some seriously fast stuff in the Igniss and that only has 125bhp.

I disagree...

I've seen most accidents caused at the nurburgring by the people who 'are taking it easy' / 'don't know how to drive on track' ... Nurburgring is a tricky track no questions and it doesn't tolerate people braking or lifting off in stupid places... This generally causes 99 % of crashes... Then there's things like oil etc causing a large amount and finally people who are pushing hard having a accidental off.

It generally is the people who just turn up, with no track experience (other than playing it on the ps2) and think I'll have a few easy laps... end up lifting off mid bend at 90 mph and the back end comes around, they lose control and bang!!

I find around the ring, I feel far safer on the throttle committed, than I do when I'm not pushing hard. Infact last time, I did a easy lap and my car was all over the place, someone suggested my R888's weren't at temp and to push harder... Next lap I pushed like a prick through the first few twisties - got the car sliding quite nicely through the first few bends and then the car just started gripping (tyres reached temp) - I then kept flat out throughout to keep tyre temps high.

I did 9 min 14 this year and I have a vendetta to get under 9 mins a 8 min whatever in my 106!!!

I will achieve this, this year!

P.s. OJC - I agree 100% with what you say... On most normal british tracks I feel as calm as a hindu cow, but at the nurburgring when trying to get a quick lap time and staying committed on the throttle, I have my heart in my mouth and just hold on for a thrilling ride!

I would go. Not to drive though because

1. I'm not going to risk my life.
2. I havn't had any track day experiance.
3. I'm not willing to spunk 12k down the drain.

I would go for the drive, to spectate, to support others & just get away from this place for a weekend.
