if your car is standard, you have the same torque that lee does. however your car does weight a good bit less than his, i wouldn't be surprised if did you gave him a run for his money.

My car isn't standard, it isn't the standard engine, or standard car I reckon I'd beat a VTi tbh.

Nah, it was a VTR and I have a stripped XSi with GTi engine... So yes, that's a MUCH bigger probabilty to beat a VTi than you have against an F1

Torque is the amount of force pushing down the pistons multiplied by the throw of the crank. Bhp is an equation of this taking time into effect or rpm. Also many people are forgetting the weight of the vehicle. Although it wont effect torque of bhp it will accelerate quicker. Also gearing will also affect acceleration so its not really just a simple torque vs bhp argument.

i've never understood, why people say the vtec has no torque...
eg.. the 1.6 make MORE torque than a 1.6 corsa engine?

i think its because the power to torque ratio is so different, but as you say pound for pound some of the VTEC engines are creating more torque than for example their vauxhall equivalents.
ie the S2000 is a 2 litre and produces 208lbs/ft of torque against for an example a C20XE at 160ish? (i know i'm guessing, so feel free to correct me)
however, with the 1.6 or 1.8 engines, theres not that much difference torque wise
